I want to use a brand new pallette, I got the pallette working fine except everything is fullbright even in far distance in the game, I noticed all 34 colormaps are at fullbright and not darkened. How can I edit the colormap if the gamma bar in the palette editor is blured out everytime I switch to colormap editing mode?

Inkworks (don't know the link off hand, but I could e-mail it if need be) will allow you to load a palette and it will create a colormap for you based on the palette.

Colormaps only apply in software mode by the way.

It's what I used for Blake Stone, although my colormap needs a bit of tweeking.

The way you do it is set the primary palette, then set the "ending palette" (using gamma or the color sliders) and then create the colormaps (to go from the first palette to the last). That's how you can get fog or whatever.

The help clearly explains all this stuff.

What you did was use the same starting and ending palette, hence all bright is the result.

Similary, if you import another palette, the colormap is automatically changed to match the DOOM colors. This isn't really a good idea though unless you have special graphics using that palette. It's all pretty simple, once one understands the primary concepts.

The basic difference between DeePsea and Inkworks is that he canned some stuff and it's not as pretty http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

*wishes someone can send him a registered DeepSea...*

I cannot map cause DCK is my primary editor, and I can't run it in Windows 2000! http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm23.gif

Personnaly, I use WinDEU 32 (v 5.99 b1). You can have it here:

ftp://3darchives.in-span.net/pub/idgames/utils/level_edit/deu/

But don't forget to add these two lines at the end of the ".ini" file:

rebuildReject=false
rebuildBlockmap=false

otherwise you can destroy completely your wads!!!
Be warned also that this editor destroy the Fragglescripts which are within the wads. So, if you use it, you must first save the script with XWE:

XWE (v 1.10) can help you for some simple changes, and offers the possibility to manipulate wads with a Fragglescript. You can have it here:

http://doomworld.com/xwe/

All these infos come from my "Links" page:
http://www.newdoom.com/hosted/dlw/Links.shtml

But... the best editor is DeepSea"!!!
The problem is that it's not for free... http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/frown.gif

Last: ZenNode 1.1.0 to build nodes , reject table and so on!

It's a good idea to keep a copy of the FS in the same directory as the wad until you're ready to distribute.
