Ok, Here recently I re-downloaded DeePsea after getting a new computer, and found Doom64 music at Doom Depot (Thanks! This soundtrack is the best!) And am trying to figure out how to get the music into my levels. Can someone put in english how I get this music on the levels instead of the original Ultimate Doom music, which in my humble opinion is nothing compared to that of Doom64? Please help! I've got all these levels made, and the original music just doesn't cut it! Help!

If the N64 music is in MIDI format you can use DeepSea to insert it into your wad.

Uhh, that doesn't really help me much, I'm asking for instructions here. I know I need to insert it into my wad file, replaceing D_E1M1, but how do I do that? Where do I go? Whats up man? I need some real info here!

Hmmm, I'll try to get a tutorial up on this today at my editing site. (link in sig) It's fairly simple.

Try here as well (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/tappers/dmstrtd.htm)
or
DeepSea online tutorials (http://www.sbsoftware.com/onlinehelp/deepstart.htm) look for "Import Dialog Lump"

To import a MIDI file using DeePsea (current version is 11.6) do this:

Press F7:

1. Select Merge/Import ...
2. Press "Open Target" .. defaults to your PWAD
3. Press "Add Lump Files" and select the Midi file.
4. If your file name is not the name you want for the lump (like D_E1M1), then press "Rename Lump" and give it the lump name you want. Default is first 8 of the file name. [Assuming you have highlighted the file in the listbox].
5. Press "Save All files" and you are done.

You can repeat 2 as many times as you like and for any type of file.

Now if you are doing this for a port that plays MIDI, you are all done. However, if you are doing this for a port that does not (stock DOOM, BOOM, etc), then change your default conversions.

That's the "Auto Options" button. Change it so MIDI is converted to MUS - the Doom format.

Same comment applies to WAV files. Change it to SND (the DOOM header format).

Okay, thanks, that works, but I still have one more problem. The Dark Citadel music file is too large it says, I can I reduce the size or make it fit???

I assume you converted it to MUS.

You can't go over 64kb for MUS. Ports like LEGACY and ZDOOM can play MIDI directly, which is just one of the reasons people chose to use them.

You'd have to use a MIDI editor to shorten it. Or find a shorter MIDI.

if you want to use those MP3 tracks as music. you need to use Zdoom.

rename the D64 track file extension mp3, to lmp.

then rename it as d_runnin, or any name that can be replaced in Doom II and import it.

so for example, rename level 01 (staging area).mp3

to d_runnin.lmp

and import it.

Zdoom is the only port that can run the music as lmp.
