View Full Version : Underworld

I downloaded the wad underworld from the Room on the Left, and here's my two cents worth...
I like the music (good midi versions of Pantera, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, etc.), but the designs are simplistic and underdetailed, plus the fact in most of the maps it's too bloody dark to SEE anything most of the time. While the concept itself is good, the execution was not. Rework the maps, fellas. This set of wads is currently medicore at best, poor at it's worst.

i have only played level 1 of underworld so far and for the beginning of what-should-be a tough megawad, the level is kinda..erm..big...now let me start by critcizing by comparing all the level 1's of megawads i have played to level of underworld http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/tongue.gif (Will not include original doom 2 level 1)
MM (Memento Mori): Has a room with a ciricular wall and go all the way around for door. hit switch and another small area opens containing slime and the exit house. (and a teleporter which brins out baddies) Very good level 1 level. No keys and key doors
AV (Alien Vendetta): Has a red key with a red door but it is still a small and simple level to start you off in this intense megawad. :-)
HR (Hell Revealed): Has no key doors and really is the smallest level 1 level I have ever played. Maybe only has about 5 rooms...very simple.
DSV1: I think it has all 3 key doors with 3 keys to find but I do not remember...but I think the first level of this megawad is kinda big...
DSV2: Good starter. Definitely smaller than DSV1 http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/tongue.gif
DSV3: Has two key doors OPPOSITE of each other in the same small room (blue and yellow and yellow is exit door http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/tongue.gif) and the area to get blue key is very small and easy to find the blue key in. Don't got go anywhere else then in front of the yellow key for yellow door. Kaiser sure knows how to start off his megawads. :-)...hehe
Final Doom (TNT): Simple level. Only has one seperate room out of the way...
Final Doom (Plutonia): Plutonia has the second megawad to final doom is tougher and has a bigger level 1..
Doom/Ultimate Doom: Has the first level that was most likely EVER played at the start of your doom career, you should all know what this level looks like. It is small, and does not contain much dude...
Note: All of these descrpitions were about the FIRST level for each original game or TC (Total Conversion) of doom. The later levels are much more intense (you have a brain to know that http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm12.gif ) than the beginning of them. Thanks for listening. :-)

Hmm... it seems this thread got off to a bad start, without the wad link, and then went off topic after Doom_Dude thankfully included the link.
Really, this section is for wad authors to post a link to their own creations, and request feedback.
In case you don't know / forgot the rules for this section of the forums, here they are again:
Post one wad link per thread.
Only post reviews / questions / comments for that specific wad to that thread.
Any unnecessary / irrelevant posts, flames, etc. will be deleted.
Disruptive posters who can't or won't follow these rules may be dealt with as appropriate.
So please remember the above, stay on topic, and don't make posts here just to be chit-chatting. That's for Rants http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/wink.gif
