If someone can describe to me, in as simple terms as possible, how to do the infinate space effect (you look out a window and see the sky instead of a wall texture), I would appreciate it. Thanks.

I haven't done it in a long time, but i still think I remember how to do it.
You don't really create a wall. What you do is you create a small sector where you want it to show sky. You have to make the ceiling be the same as floor (much like making the door). Now comes the tricky part. You don't give it any upper texture, and you make the ceiling be the sky texture.
I'm pretty sure that's how it goes.

Yeah, that's how it's done.

hey MS, I made a small demo of how a "space" window is done.
its really simple once you open it up and examine it in your editor.

I'm pretty sure you have to have the sky 8 units above the floor if you're using openGL. I might be remembering wrongly though...

I use GL and I don't have any problem with having it the same height as the floor. Just make sure you use a good node builder.

Infinite space is cool. But an answer I beg. There are 3 sky textures that you use on linedefs. WTF are they for? They look real crapy as a normal linedef and I can't figure out for the life of me how to get infinite space effect with em.

Here's the really confusing deal on the DooM skies:
Those 3 textures are the ones that are used on the skies you always use. They're not meant for the walls. That flat F_SKY1 doesn't actually get used for anything. It just fills in the hole int he editor.
The neat bit is that the F_SKY1 flat is the sky used in the press release beta of DooM from October 1993. It's a bunch of mountains on a moon with no atmosphere (looks a lot like Phobos actually - not that Phobos is big enough for mountain ranges).
Hope that helps a bit. If you want to use new skies you just change those textures (yeah they do look like crap on walls). http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif
