View Full Version : How do I make things cast shadows?

Ok say i have a sector be a sky light and i want the light to come in and cast shadows on the pillars in the room. How could I do this? Before I had to make seperate sectors for each shadow, is there any other way? BTW, I dont know if this has to do with it, but what is phasing lighting? Oh well. It looks okay with seperate secors, but hall of mirros kept hapening with the pillars, so i had to set them back a little bit, so the shadow is cast on a tiny section of the room in front of the pillar, ahh well. Thanks anyway.

That shouldn't ever make a HOM effect unless your lines got screwed up somehow. Weird. Legacy also has a 3D lighting feature that lets you light the top of a sector differently from the bottom. You might like to look at that for some types of effects with shadows.

Ok see the room is a big square with 5 sectors and 4 pillars. The middle sector is a + while the other 4 are Squares that fit into its corners. In the corner of each square, theree is a pillar. For example, the bottem left square has a pillar in its upper right while bottem right has it in its upper left. Unfortunatly, when the pillar was touching the plus, it would create a hall of mirrors effect. Hey, I wonder if I made the plus have more vertises and conected them to the pillars if that would work...

That shouldn't cause a HOM. I expect something about the way you put it together is causing that. Probably the fault of Wadauthor's scheme of not letting you define your own sectors like the older editors do. I know I had some problems making some things in Wadauthor.
Can you send me the map? I'll have a look at it and see if I can figure this out.
