Real simple. There's a great new collector's edition out...Doom, DII (The Mighty Ducks), Ultimate. Has anyone created any decent editor for non-programmers that works in Win 98 or 2K?
Back in the day, I remember buying two great editors, one in DOS and one in Win 3.1...both required registration to use properly, and both sources were long gone, so reg. wasn't possible.
What's a Ghost gotta do to make some Doom levels around here? http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm12.gif

Lots of people here seem to like Wadauthor. It's simple to use yet powerful. DeePsea is a good Win32 editor too, but the full version costs money.

Check out "utils" page on Doom Heaven (http://www.doomheaven.com) for a small selection of editors.
Most will work okay in W98 but using W2K you will be limited for choice.

For Win2k you'll need an editor that is purely 32-bit that doesn't have any 16-bit programming.

Thanks, all! 32bit would be nice, but I can swing 98 if I have to. I'll check them out and let you know if I get anywhere with them.
Thanks again! Keep 'em coming, if you've a mind too! http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm11.gif

Strange, I seem to be the only one STILL using WADED! It's a DOS program, it's outdated, and it has it's share of bugs, but that is still the program I'm most comfortable with... probably because it came with my 3D Alchemy book I bought back in 1995, which introduced me to Doom editing. I've been using it ever since, and I don't think I'll ever muster up the energy and time to learn a "more powerful" program. WADED does everything I need as far as levels go, but I use DeepSea for the advanced editing (sounds, textures, sprites, etc).

I've used it a few times.

I just tried Wadauthor. It kicks the crap out of DEU which I was using before. Now if only I could figure out how to delete a column in the middle of a room.

Back when I used Wadauthor it didn't allow for vertex editing, so I got rid of it.
