Would anyone happen to know how to convert a LCD file to a MUS file in order to change the music? Or is that not even possible. I don't think it is... If you know please tell me.

That reminds me, is there a working IMF2MUS or IMF2MIDI utility out there? The one I found didn't map the instruments correctly and I'm not musically inclined enough to fix that.

Dude how did you fucking know? Can we swear? I hope so because I am simply amazed... Laughing at me... Some partner you are... Are you even my partner Kaiser??? You haven't even said anything for like 2 whole days now... Pff...

I thought that the 'music' in PSX doom would generate a more freaky atmosphere. I'm trying to create a "GREAT" TC. I want get back to Doom's roots. Great gameplay that tries to scare people. hmm... The keyword is 'tries'...

PEOPLE !!! Give me some ideas. IF nobody wants to be my freaking partner THAT'S freaking fine. But you could at least give me some freaking ideas and cut me some freaking slack.

You won't find an MP3 to MIDI converter. Despite all the cool research in the area, nobody's yet developed a program that will actually work for your purpose. Some of them can convert music like pianos into MIDI, but they can't do it for multiple instruments.

Some of the ports support MP3 music, but then you have to worry about the big files. Ebola had an MP3 track in Phobia using FraggleScript.

MP3 to MIDI, heh, that's a tall order. I'm certain that there are darker sounding MIDI out there for you to use in your TC.

The MOD format is also an alternative if you want the music to sound the same on each computer. MOD files are smaller than MP3, but usually better sounding then MIDI. I'm not sure which ports support MOD files though. MOD Archive (http://www.modarchive.com) has quite a few files to rummage through.

Well then how could I get those files into a fragglescript? I am bound to do this one way or another. Even if it means I have to make my own Mp3 to Midi converter... Yeah...

Would it be possible to hack Doom and make it recognize .WAV files as the music file and possibly convert the noises/sound effects to .RAW files and make them recognize them that way? Or even better, hack it to understand the music as .RAW files and leave the sound effects as they are?

Could you even legally hack Doom? I don't know. I really don't know anything about these things, but one way or another I will do this. --

Apparently no one is interested in my project...

Wavs are bigger than MP3s so that would be silly. MOD music works really well in some ports, but in Legacy it would probably have to be some kind of FraggleScript trick. I usually find my MIDIs sound better than most MODs anyway.

If you want to make a really scary mod, then the real key is scary levels. They have to be really dark and creepy. Good scary music helps. RTCW has lots of that and it's pretty freaky.

ZDOOM does MIDI, MOD, MP3 and WAV.

File size is an issue. WAV might compress fairly well in a zip, not so for mp3 (since it's already compressed).

There's another port that uses FMOD - which does the MOD and MP3. Don't remember.

You mean you can get .WAV files to play as music? I was under the impression that .WAV was limited to sound effects and .MUS was reserved for the actual music. Please give me a better understanding of this topic.

Nooooooo!!!! Not Creative Labs!!!!

...Sorry, but Yamaha makes way better sounding midi. Even their soft-synths from five years ago are better than the new Creative hardware stuff.

So how would you get the Mp3 files into your wad? Is it possible using wadauthor? Or do I need Deepsea? I'm not very knowledgable in these things so please explain what I would have to do.

thank you

Some of us want to know. It'd be nice for atmosphere to have an mp3 be the soundtrak of your map.
