I used to use DEU v5.21 but that's old and unfriendly. Try DeePsea. It seems to be pretty good and it supports source ports like Legacy and ZDoom.

We have been through this before. Well, the best editor (in my opion) is DeePsea (http://www.sbsoftware.com) It can do everything you can think of, it even has support for other Doom ports. The downside is that it isn't free and the shareware has a 1200 sidedef and 800 linedef restriction.

I use WadAuthor, an easy to use editor for Doom, Doom II, Hexen, and can also be asued as an eiditor for ZDoom levels as well (though this reqquires downloading the patch for it). I also use Wintex as well...both of them can be found in my web site under downloads.

LOL To get to my home page, just click in the little house in my nickname bar, and it will take you right to it. Then, go into the main page, and click on downloads...there's some other stuff there as well, some wads, ports, and other such like.

Oh cool, don't laught at me when i tell ya this but: When i had click on profile i did get a link to the same site but i didn't notice the Enter The Hall's link (you should put it at the top or make it bigger, or make it someway more noticible to visitors) so i didn't find the download link inside of it http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif. Anyway those srn shot that you have are those taken directly from the game or enlarged already using a graphic prog?

I highly recomend Deepsea (www.sbsoftware.com) but its sharware (limit to 800 linedefs) but the $19 bucks are worth it....

You must be right if you can afford Dreamweaver, Flash and Fireworks.
You should use VI for HTML editing and Paint Shop Pro for graphics.
BTW I used Deth (DOS & Windows) for editing, when/if I ever get back to it.

I would suggest DETH, but it will be difficult to get to grips with if you are new to editing. I dont know if there are any easy to learn editors.
If using DETH you will also need a good nodes builder like BSP or ZENNODE. Always try to find the newest versions and read the documents.
Hey everyone, look, I never made a single derogatory comment about Deepsea.
I dont have a problem with the software, (though I will never use it) its the plonker who sells it that I want to get my hands on
He just sent me an extremely insulting email and better watch out.

"He just sent me an extremely insulting email and better watch out."
====================
First off, I sent you an email after you made a blunderous statement you wouldn't back off from. That was to avoid a flame thing - but NO, you had to post it (very very very unethical, regardless of the Julian's lack of ethics doing exactly the same thing).
Why was it that you guys couldn't email me back, but need flame support? (Neither one of you emailed me back - Silly.)
Then you neglected to point out that I could prove you were wrong - as I kept stating in that little flamate at Doomworld. So if I can create a level in DeeP (the one you said you tried) and you can read it in DEU (or DETH or any other editor) what does that tell you?
If you keep insisting on your little story, then I can only conclude I'm dealing with a .. (fill in the blanks).
At the least you could have said you don't remember exactly. But to keep repeating something which is so easily debunked is not wise.
About the physical threats - mmm, let me give you some practical advice -if- you live in the U.S. That stuff can land you in a LOT of trouble.
Besides, physical threats are an odd reaction to a simple factual debate.

Get a gripe, were taking about a game editor there people.
In the great scheme of things it doesn't deserve, isn't worth the time and effort everyones seems to be spending on it.
Stand back and adjust your views on what is is important.
You just need to turn on your TV to see what that is.

Actually I did email you back with a very clear threat that you will be needing a doctor if I get my hands on you, remember it now?
I posted the email here because I see most of the people on these forums as friends and I see nothing wrong with sharing an abusive, deranged email with my friends.

Well, you can say THAT all you want to also. You NEVER sent me an email that I RECEIVED. So try again if you think that will somehow affect me. I'd love to receive an email threatening me http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif
Do you think I wouldn't have fun with an email like that? LOL - get real - or resend me the email you supposedly sent.
Personally, I doubt you sent an email, seeing how you keep AVOIDING my point that what you stated so far is EASILY proved to be incorrect.
Why is it that you keep avoiding my point?
Here's the point: If you create a level in DeeP, it can be read in any editor out there. Not difficult to prove. Also not difficult to understand is it?

As Big Al is my witness, he gave me a copy of shareware deep to use, I used it on a couple of levels I had started in DEU. When I tested the levels there were invisible blocks in a couple of places, which at first were funny but then annoying. I tried to edit the files in DEU and couldnt load them. I have since finished those two levels and added some 3D Legacy effects (Grail2 and Force Kinzola 1) using DETH. This is all perfectly true, I know this because I was there.
You will of course call me a liar again, but that is your problem not mine. I have no reason to lie about it, I make no money from people buying DETH or any other editor. Frankly, I dont care what editor other people use.

You MISS the point - again. For the umpteenth time, I can PROVE that is not true. All you have to do is create a level in DeeP, save it and see it it can be read in DEU or DETH.
Why do you avoid that simple fact?
Wonderful and simple isn't it.
So the POINT is I or anyone else can PROVE what you wrote is not true. Anyone can!
Btw, how can Deep make a level that can't be read by another editor, yet can still be read by DOOM? LOL - please tell me, that's a cool trick.
Geez, this is a ridiculous argument. FACTS count, not some "accusation". That's the problem with a lot of posters, somehow they believe that just saying something makes it true. And then they can't believe they get called on it.
Does it ever occur to you that you may have made a "mistake" and used the wrong project? Or perhaps (god forbid) DEU had a bug. THINK.

No mistake. The version of deep I was using had that saving function as a feature. You may well have removed that restrictive feature from the software since then, I dont really care as I have other wad tools I enjoy using now.
The invisible blocks it created were a well known fault in that particular version of deep, it sometimes gave sidedefs the wrong sector reference. Im sure a lot of old timers remember what Im talking about.
Personally I dont care what the law says about threatening messages. If we ever meet in person you will apologise or regret ever calling me a liar.

You really want to drag this on? Well, I have to accept you for the age you are, but I sure hope you grow up to be someone a LOT nicer and a LOT more honest.
"The version of deep I was using had that saving function as a feature."
OK, let's assume that's true. Then how can DOOM read the level? THINK. Sounds like your version of DEU/DETH had a bug. If DOOM can read it then ANY editor should be able to read it. THINK!
"The invisible blocks it created were a well known fault in that particular version of deep"
LOL - that "fault" was a mistake in BSP2.3 that I copied in DeePBSP. Read the notes in BSP to see what I mean.
As far as wrong sidedef references that's just a fact of editing (even now there can be cases where it may need fixing). The user is supposed to catch them with the ERROR checker and FIX them.
DEU/DETH makes 100% invalid references and you have FIX all of them. I figured a DEU/DETH user would find fixing a FEW references duck soup http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif
"Personally I dont care what the law says about threatening messages."
OK, but you NEVER sent me the email either. So again you LIED here about that. If you don't care - then SEND me your threatening email. I would LOVE to receive it.
"If we ever meet in person you will apologise or regret ever calling me a liar."
LOL - amusing to consider, but not a wise way to approach life. If you don't LIE then you wont be called a LIAR. Simple thing to remember.
Just remember that if you get aggressive the OTHER person just might hurt you http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

This is insane! I don't know the whole story yet about this saving thing, but it might be one of those things that only occurs on Mystic's box (stuff like that happens between my different comps all the time). If this is the case, then he's not lying.
I read a good deal of that thread on Doomworld and I discovered something. You were the first one to start flaming deepteam. People were asking all sorts of questions about DeePsea. Many of these likely sounded really dumn to you. Part of it was likely due to the users not checking something carefully (it happens a lot). Another factor is the so-called Murphy's Law of user-interface design: Anything that can be misunderstood. It also has a corollory: Even if it can't be misunderstood it will.
Your response to these people was something along the lines of: "I can't believe these idiots making statements about things they haven't even tried themselves and don't know about." It wasn't exactly those words, but the tone was similar. Granted some of that was dumb, but you don't need to flame them. You only continued to perpetuate what you were doing.
I do think Mystic has gotten a bit carried away with flaming you. I can see why he might be mad, but it's too much.
PS. Please don't get insulted if we complain about aspects of DeePsea's functioning. I've never met a flawless piece of software in my life (especially when it's that complex).
