Ok, I know this may sound like a total newbie question, but I need some help.

I'm not new to the Doom community, I was building Doom levels years ago, but I sort of gave up when Quake was released. Now though, with the introduction of the enhanced source ports and their features (room over room and sloped surfaces etc.) I'm thinking about getting back into Doom map making. However, I've no idea how to get started, or which level builders I should use.

Could someone give me some help please? Which level building programs to you use and can you give me their URL please. Thanks alot.

Here is the complete text of my post regarding Windows-based DooM editors:

"Two of the best DooM editors for Windows are WadAuthor and DeepSea. Both are shareware and require registration after a certain point. WadAuthor is free for 14 days and the shareware version offers all the features of the registered version. DeepSea shareware has full functionality of all graphics and other lump editing and management, but has limits on the size of map that you can create and save."

In addition, I will say that both programs come with excellent help files. They can be found at:

DeepSea -- http://www.sbsoftware.com
WadAuthor -- http://home.zyan.com/~wc/wainfo.html

Both these programs can be configured to take advantage of the features of source ports such as ZDooM, Legacy, etc.
