Well, after futzing with a map for a while it amounted to, again, nothing mroe than a room with a weapon and some imps in it, no doors no windows and no stairs or anything. does anyone know how to make these things with the editor "DoomEd"? i can't even figure out how to MAKE a line def, like draw one, it won't work, HEEEEEEEELP! i can place objects, no prob, can see the sectors and stuff, i can make textures on the walls and all but i can't get the line defs to draw, and i can't make doors and stuff, aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hh, i just suck, i'm trying to do something i just don't understand... ii've read the tutorial section on this site and many others, i need somehting step by step lol

Well i found one in doomcad and one other editor, its not going to badly, however i made a level with 2 rooms with a door in the middle, i tried making 2 pillars in one of the rooms, i tied the line defs of the inner sectors to the outer sector of the room, but they wont' become 2 sided, i just want them to come down half way from the cieling with a light source on them and make the brightness lighter in there... but when i save the node builder fux up and if i try to play the level it crashes Zdoom whe i open the door to that room... what am i doing wrong? i followed the tutorial perfectly

Like I said, let me know if you want to give WADED a try. It's the only level editor I use, well except WADAUTHOR to paste and edit raw data...

WADED rocks

Email me and I'll hook you up. Once you figure out how to trick waded into doing everything you want I don't understand why anyone would use anything else... I mean two steps:

1. Draw sector

2. Make sector

Done.

So ya DOOM2HELL, mail me and I'll send you WADED and a list of tips and tricks for using it to it's fullest.

What nodebuilder you using anyway? The one that came with the program or an external one. I and a bunch of other people recommend you use Zennode, especially for playing levels in GL. And remeber to save often when building a level.

Yeah i am using the built in one that comes with doomcad. And i've heard the same about Zen Node, its supposed to be very good. However i figured considerig the primitive nature of my level thus far, i don't think i'll need any fancy node builders yet.

thanx guys

I build mostly EDGE levels and use WARMDOS to build the nodes. The WADED node builder is slow and lame but it does the job for the most part. ZENNODE is good too, but the new one is supposed to have serious bugs. You can download an older alpha from the DOOM Editing Resource (http://www.newdoom.com/teamdeim/der/) downloads section which I'll have up this afternoon.

An important tip for WADED users, save the level just before you start making sectors so that if it locks up, you haven't lost any info.

I might have finally figured out how to get into contact with the guy who made WADED and I'll see if I can't get the code off him so I can hire a coder to fix and update it.
