View Full Version : Slopes???

I broke down, and got ZDooM beta 1.23, build 11. http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smile.gif
Now, how do you make those slopes? My attempts failed thus far.
I think it was mentioned to set the linetype to 181, but what about the arguments?
ZETH doesn't recognize linedef type 181, so if I'm to execute this, I need to know the numbers to plug in, or at least KNOW what to plug in for said numbers.
Any help out there?

King REoL :
I'm using Wad Author for creating doom wads, and he can make slopes by using the RAW DATA from the right mouse clic. All you need to write it's the slopes args 181, X, X.

Well, maybe you should use Wadauthor to make them, it's a whole easier and you don't have so much troubles so it's easier, hope that helps, see ya!!

181, x, and x.
What ARE the X and the other X? Is this just one argument, or three different arguments?
I'm so used to plugging in triple-digit numbers when DEU had limited DooM II support, and to access all the D2 features, you had to manually enter the numbers of, say, the fast red key door.
I'm asking for this, because these other editors do a lot of work for you, which is bad for me, because I build in reverse of how editors like to do things, and I get currupted PWADS when I tried other editors.
This is why I'd like to know what these arguments are, and what they mean. I'm so used to doing things the hard way. http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smile.gif

Okay. I tried Wadauthor, and I'm just as clueless as to how to make them.
Any actual tips, perferably from the above post, would be of help.
Thanks, so far!

Hey, XDoom, I assume you have to "hexenize" both the Doom2.wad and the Pwad you are editing to be able to enter the above arguments?

King REoL :
the first X is for the floor statement, and the second X is for the ceilling statement.
if you add 1 it's to adjust the floor/ceilling to the nearest and if you let the 0, it's to let him normaly
---------------------------------------------
Stphrz :
Not completly, just to convert the doom2.wad to let me creating the ZDoom wads format. But all others texture like Hexen as been converting to the doom2 palettes.

The two numbers you need to put in are the arguments. They're listed as Arg1 through Arg5.

Do like I do with DEU, if it applies:
If you can enter a number for the linedef type (like a switch, door, lift, and the like), eneter 181 here. This is the slope command.
If you can edit the 5 arguments, you can edit the 1'st and 2'nd one, first being set slope to meet neighboring sector, 2'nd is for the ceiling. Get that 2-sided linedef pointing the right way, though.
One thing, the arguments can be either a 0 or a 1. 0 being no slope, 1 being slope.

I goofed anyway.
When you select a line to do something, like operate as a door, you have the description of that line, and up to 5 things to do, which are arguments.
As in the case of a door, some arguments are SECTOR (tagged sector, same as sector tag), SPEED (how fast it opens or closes), DELAY (How long it takes before the door shuts again), and LOCK (type of key).
If you notice, if your editor shows it, when you make a door, there's a 1 to 3 digit number associated with it.
In slopes, you might not see that option, but in DEU, you can put any code in. See if your editor can do that.
For line type, enter the number 181.
For the first argument, enter a 1 or a 0. This is for sloped floors (1 yes, 0 no). For the second argument, do the same, as this is for the ceiling.

I used Wad Author since the beginning of my wad work.
And i think for me, that for ZDoom map, Wad Author may be the best and most one editor who can build a huge, great and perfect wads.
All your need is the zdoom.wcf files and the zdoom wad converter to convert the doom.wad to a zdoom wad format

King REoL, yeah you have to change the Doom2 or Doom Iwad but you can still keep the original around. In fact you HAVE to keep the original around to actually PLAY the wad you are working on. The altered wad is for editing purposes only.
