Yeah, everybody likes that ship. It turned out to be one of the most popular ones they ever created. There was a modified version that appeared in TNG once. It didn't have that cool torpedo launching thing on the top though.

Enterprise models are a pain to build. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm23.gif I have one and it's in peices due to the crappy assed way it was forged. The engine struts don't fit into the hull nicely at all. What a piece of crapp. I ended up ripping it apart to align things better and now i can't be bothered to fix it.

Most game engines (even BUILD) made holes all black. I'm guessing Carmack didn't even really think about what would happen and then didn't bother fixing it cause he was too busy making up some feature somewhere else.

Command & Conquer: Renegade. It's an fps where you get to be Captain Havoc (the Commando from the first C&C) and kick the shit out of NOD. It's a really detailed game and it's really sweet. It's like Opposing Force on a way bigger scale without aliens in it.

Yeah it is. You play as Captain Havoc (that crazy commando) and you run around in NOD bases and kill stuff. You get to drive tanks and command GDI forces but I don't think you do any building. Like I said, it's like Opposing Force/Counter Strike on a much grander scale. You get to go in the buildings and take them over from there too. The cinematics are really funny because Havoc is really arrogant and he (you) even gets arrested by GDI at one point.

Yeah it does. You have to use the keys to steer when you drive tanks and stuff though so you can use the mouse to shoot at things. The building interiors look pretty fake in that game. They never have any light fixtures in them so all the lighting's done with some kind of point lights.

The blue key is ontop of that round structure in the 2nd open area (or there abouts) you enter at beginning of map. After you come back from hitting a switch in the room (room has round pillars) with the arachnatrons you find a open door with a teleporter. Ummm thats what I remember. This room with the teleporter is near that round structure.

Directsound 3D crashed Legacy on my old box. Some maps still crash Legacy. The 0.4 alpha maps come to mind. Certain areas of a couple of them always kill Legacy for me.

I don't know why. Most of the textures in Doom have no corresponding flat and you end up with using a flat1 or one of the smooth textures that don't quite match....which looks shoddy and cheap. LOL.

By looking at the progress of the pre-release versions and the final versions you can tell they had no plan at all. They just starting slapping things together and changing as needed. As a result they forgot to change a bunch of crap. That's why the marine shows a rifle but uses a pistol. He was meant to have a rifle to begin with.

It also explains the Hangar level. In the 0.4 alpha version it's an early version of Spawning Vats and it actually looks somewhat like a Hanger base.

You have to make levels almost right from the beginning. That's how you see how it's working. If you play the 0.2 alpha of DooM all you see is some simple map geometry that might even be one sector. It crashes a lot but that would have helped Carmack see what was going on. It also aids the direction of development because certain effects will get added to the engine based on the game's needs. There was a lot of texture work being done in those alphas too. It was also interesting to see plans for level features that weren't implemented yet. Places had switches before the linedef for them was done. They were getting an idea what they wanted.

Hey, I just played Chemical Facility (again) from start to finish and it's one of the best looking levels I've ever seen. It had one room that needs lights though (right at the end). The teleport tricks were bloody mean! That level is one of your funnest though.

Anyway, I got to Blood Fountain and decided that although the gameplay rocks, the map looks like an old Star Trek set from the 60's. The grey and the red did that. For the indoor stuff I recommend more variety (wall panels and such) and shadows. The lamps look really cool with the GL effects so if you build light and shadows around that it will look way better. Same goes with The Rife Hive (that map you hate). It's too fullbright, and some shadowy stuff would look great. That map's fun to play too.

That's one of my favorite maps too. Ummmm, what room is that? You teleport into a room with Imps and the lights turn on when you move. Is that the room? me trying to think.

You'll see what I mean about the shape. If you had added the lights in the same way as the other rooms then the flat wouldn't have been aligned. I agree. Dialup sucks and I had my fill of having my connection dropped / not being able to get on (took me an hour to get online one night) and having pages load like frozen molassess. I ain't going back to that....no way. :/

Yeah when I started on the net all I had was a 14Kbs modem, so a 56Kbs still seem a hell a lot quicker than that.
Got high speed connection at my work, but they do let you install FPS games, so that sucks http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/frown.gif.

Hi Doom_Dude,
I would like to tell you what I think about VileCore But before I do, I should tell you that I am a dedicated jDoomer and I use all appropriate models. On my system it seem to run and look the best. I do have a question as well. Will VileCore v2 be a 2 1/2D Megawad. I am up to Nukage plant right now and I haven't had any Hom on any of the maps so far. Demonic Outpost ran a little choppy due to all the monsters in the open area but that could be because my comp is a dated as of late. I really llike this megawad so far.
