That's about the only thing I regret is that big gap. See I aort of knew we were going to go crazy over each other and I wanted to hold it off at the time cause everyone was going to give me total shit for it (cause she's two years younger than me). This year, half the people I know still freaked out (my father included but I shut him up fast). He actually thought I would be in some kind of legal trouble! What a nut! That would only have happened if I had been her teacher or something.

Anyway, it's lots better now, except that we never have time for stuff. She's going away for spring break (too bad I don't have one) and I'm going to be lonely. As a result I can't see her on monday which sucks cause I'm obsessed about the damn 25th! Grrr!!!

My grandmother has never sat down at a computer once. The closest she ever was to a machine was when she was voice-chatting to my brother via AOL with the help of my dad. All she had to do was talk. Simpler than a telephone.

But anyway, I'll cut to the chase. She knows what's up and she doesn't make those wild assumptions. She reads/watches the news all the time and is very afraid of hackers and those 40-year-old pervs who invite people from the internet over so they can rape them or murder them or whatever. She is also aware that I spend all my time playing computer games in my room, that I built my own, and that I was talented enough to be able to program the clock on her VCR. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/biggrin.gif But she understands still that the computer is a magnificent thing that is helping the world progress with technology, the economy, and simplicity in lifestyle. She isn't really technophobic at all. She's sort of aware of everything and seems to be able to worry about something only when it's appropriate...she won't say "Doom might wreck the computer." I remember both of my grandmas but one died and the other had a bad stroke and she's in an old people home.

Anyway, my granparents got a crapppy old computer and learned to log on to my dad's AOL account and see e-mail from their brothers and sisters in England. They know enough about computers to know what they can do and how to do some simple things like write stuff and look on the net. They also knew that I was always the guy to ask about computers. They didn't mind me playing games and using the net as long as I wan't up all night. Yeah, old people ARE wise.

That other mom I told you about just about freaked out about Y2K but by then she had the sense just to ask me about it. I told her to ignore the whole thing and she did. I think her mother prepared for a nuclear war though.
