Why did they have to make this Blade editor so danged screwy? I was just messing with it and now I don't know if I'll keep with it for awhile longer or just give up. Silly Spaniards sure made some awesome maps with this thing.....somehow. Then again they had like 3 years or something to learn to master it. I wonder how many level designers they had on this game? These maps are freaking huge and architecturally complicated as hell in many places.

It wasnt the actual forums at doomworld (I can never remember my username/password), it was the 'comments' thing on the news stories where I liked to stir the brown stuff. I had a few good flame wars there last summer when I was a newbie. It was great fun winding people up.

More recently after your (Lut) return from the dead, I did go to the forums but everyone was wise to me and refused to get into an argument, I tried really hard too.

Those hubs are less hub-like than HeXen or whatever. In Quake II they're really part of the same level. It works really well. The missions were a good idea.

When Zelda for the GB came out, I played it for 10 hours straight once. And I had to satop playing quite frequently cause I'd get this super bad migrains and my vision would be all screwy. Not to mention getting pins and needels in my hands.

I'd be too lazy to edit that. I liked HeXen II's weapons a lot though. I just thought the environment suffered too much from the engine being almost a direct copy of the Quake engine. Too claustriphobic because of the limited lighting capability. I actually like the maps better in the first HeXen just because they are done on a bigger scale.

Hehe, they should do a HeXen game with teh Lithtec engine! That would rule!

I like mappin for HeXen II. The weapons are really well done and I like the monsters too, though the could've laid off the with so many spiders. Really cool fighting the werepanthers and werejaguars in the Mazaera maps. Good texture work and level designs as well. It is hard to light up any rooms that are big.... you have to insert a lot of light entities....

Why the Lithtec engine?

Lithtec is one of the best variations on a Quake-style engine. Although an engine from a newer game might look better. Mostly what HeXen II needed were texture lights (for the big stained glass jobbies) and environment lights for outside. Then the levels could get less claustriphobic. Those levels made it feel like you were inside even when you were outside. Needed better sky boxes too.

Other than that, everything was great: textures, monsters, weapons, level architecture, etc.
