Why is it whenever I get back into editing I can barely stay awake to actually edit. This pisses me off!

*Yawns*

It's hard to get into the editing mood unless I have a sketch or a very good idea about the layout. I occasionaly start and finish one from scratch, but I just attribute that to luck. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/wink.gif

Textures are a bitch when it comes to finding/making custom ones. I can find a good wall texture or something, but then I can't find a floor/ceiling to go with it.

My problem is I can get so freaking bored, very easily. I feel like starting something completely new but I want to get as much done on Vile2 as I can before I start anouther project. I really don't need good sketch to get me started on something new but after playing some doom / jedi knight II and whatnot I start getting ideas.... http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

I satyed up late last night because of the damned Humidity. No wonder I'm half baked. LOL.

Well, I did more mapping last night because I couldn't sleep. It was mostly details. There's only one little area I have issue with in my map and then everything else is just details and scripting.

Kewl Aliotroph? that you're getting it done.
How does that scripting stuff go in the wad? Is it like a text doc or what?

It's just a wee text file that gets inserted in the wad header by a cute little program we have. They should have made it a lump, but we'll live. Any more questions?

The only original stuff I've managed to think up with Legacy's engine was because of scripting. I guess it's just how I think.

Some things in FS are easy. You can spawn monsters all over your map in a real hurry without need of teleporters but I like the complex stuff that can enhance the game engine.

Yeah, that's true. There are some Legacy things you could do to it that wouldn't affect other ports though. They would just ignore it.

No, FS is done with notepad and a little program that inserts it in the wad file (DeePsea can do it too though). DoomCAD won't do the other Legacy stuff like the new linedef types.

I just use NWT to insert mine so I can save it with a .txt extension, rather than .fs. (The last thing I need is another file association).

I think DeePsea should include a Dehacked editor since it never runs under win2k/XP.

You can actually edit/create Dehacked patches with notepad. A bit difficult if you can't see the default values though.

Well, my copy of XP barely ran anything made for DOS. It almost ran DooM (bad sound) and it did run DETH but that's about it. Dehacked wouldn't run and even my Java stuff wouldn't run. In fact it caused Codewarrior to bomb out.

Shouldn't be too hard to make a Windows based editor for dehacked patches. It would take some time however.
