[Doom_Dude]

I have a little ZDoom server running on my comp. Right now I'm messing with some other stuff but the server is running and should be online most nights that I'm on. It's all set up running my Templecore map and it would be kewl if some of you guys decided to use it. To find my server you can use the ZDaemon launcher and find the jobby that says....Doom_Dude's Templecore Server.

Okay here's the lowdown on the server. It's not running all the time because I don't have a seperate comp for that sort of thing....not yet anyhow! So when I'm playing Blade or Quake II....no DooM server...due to the fact it screws up the ping in both Quake II and ZDoom.....very bad. Also when I sleep so does my comp. So unlike most of the ZDoom servers mine is just a temporary experimental jobby. Oh and anybody can run a server....all your doing is hosting the game like when you play Quake II deathmatch with your pal across the road / city / country. The Zserver program is zipped in along with the ZDaemon download...so go get it and set up some DooM fun! We need to play more DooM and get our asses away from the flamewars carp. I'll have the server running tonight unless my bro wants to play some deathmatch Quake II style.

Umm anyway.. yeah *nix as in UNIX, Linux, BSD etc... OSes based on UNIX. Coz I'll be running slackware linux on these other boxes, so I was wondering if there is a port for linux...

Well I've got the hub now, except when I bought the extra RJ45 cabling from the computer store... I got it home to find it is actually 10 metre USB extension cable! ARGH! And of course, the shop had already closed. So now I've gotta wait till monday before I can take it back (scream at them and tell them what IDIOTS they are (ok so I was an idiot for not checking.. but blah http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/tongue.gif)) and get the proper cable. After that I'll need to somehow get net access to my linux box, install the software, and start 'er up. There're a lot of neat things you can do in coop that you can't do elsewhere, because of teamwork. For example you could create a level where each player has access to one section of the level. Or, one player has access to the level and the rest or other one is trapped until P1 reaches his goal, which opens a door for P2 to start to head through. If you want to make it a 3 or four player wad (perhaps even release different versions--level 2 is for 2 players, level 3 is for 3 players, level 4 for four players), when player 2 reaches the exit it opens a door for player 3 and when player three reaches the exit it opens the door for player four. Or you could even have player 1 and 2 work together and when they reach the end, player 3 and 4 can head through. This would make one single level compatible for any 2 to 4 players.

Those are just some ideas!

Right now I have about 3 different ideas for deathmatch wads so I'll probably do them first. Plus I'm thinking that I should make a "deathcore" map pack that will include my core maps already released plus a few xtras that are special to the "core™" map pack.

I got the new ZDaemon server working. I hope to have it actually running maybe tomorrow night if I'm available. Ummm, I also hope to have it running on the weekend. Hopefully somebody will actually use it. When I first made Templecore my server jobby was busy with traffic but suddenly after a few weeks people wandered off. another question too, would i be able to run a server on that p75 i have? like just that? maybe if i got a linux partition on it? i can dial it in late at night and leave it connected, but would the computer be too slow? or would the dial in connection not be enuf? or what?

PLUS!!!! now that i have cable who wants to deathmatch on quake II? anyone? i loooove quake II DM, even though i'm REMARKABLY rusty! http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

Hiya! I dunno when the newdoom review center will be back...that's where my wad is. I can always email it to yo.

Once I have my server running you can use the ZDaemon Server Launcher and it show you all the available servers. Pick mine "The Official Chasmcore Server" out of the list and click on it.

On a P75? Dude I'm not too sure. All I can say is give it a try. Good Luck!

Anyhow get ZDaemon and make sure to get Azdl which is the jobby that lets you connect to the ZDaemon servers. Click me for ZDaemon (http://www.truelights.com/)
As for Azdl, I'll have to ask Don Incognito as to where he found it....or I can email it to you.

I'm chilling out from running any heavy programs right now. I want to see if my comp is ok, since I had a bad lock-up problem....but I will play Quake II with you soon! Definitely! Anybody else wanna get into some major fragging in Quake II? http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm35.gif

Later in the day? well keep in mind its my day off, so i'm around when yer around. I'm usually up and about from 11 or 12 noon till about 3 am and then i hit the hay, so any time in between there. Course thats eastern time here in Ohio, not sure what it is where you are. But anyhoo, i'm only around early in the after noon on sunday, from like, 11 ish in the morning till about 3:30 ish in the afternoon...
