It has to do with the way GL treats nodes. Zennode solves most problems.

usually happens with older non gl friendly wads right? http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm15.gif

WadAuthor's node builder is more prone to it than other map editors.

I used to get some nasty GLholes when I used DoomCADs nasty nodesbuilder. Nowadays ZenNode takes care of all that.

Ok, how do I know if I have ZenNode set up right in DeepSea, how can I tell it is working?

I just use zennode in a dos box with no command line options, like this...
zennode pyramid1
You dont need the .wad extension.

If you use DeePsea you don't need ZenNode. DeePBSP is just as good for that. It uses the same algorithms and even has most of the same options from what I can see.

I dunno, I dragged the WAD onto ZenNode, and it flickered some letters, so I figure it worked, but things were the same. So I just drew a new sector over the area of the floor and ceiling that was cracking and that fixed it, but I am still left with a bunch of holes in the wall. This does not seem to happen on my smaller maps, but this one is pretty HUGE, and the problem only seems to get worse as I add on the details. :/
I'd like to know howto set up ZenNode in DeepSea still.

If you have holes in the walls still then you likely have errors with your sectors or something. Try running the error checks in DeePsea for that. You'll find those in the check menu of course. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

For some reason on my system if I drag and drop a wad file onto the Zennode executable it will output it to C:\Windows, rather than the directory from which the wad came.

Dude, it was a rip right in the middle of one of my floors, there were no vectors or anything there, just a big open space! It had this big ass crack in it all of the sudden with sky texture set above and below, that is cracked out. :/
By the way, how is it that my sectors always seem to be non-connected when I look at them and they appear to be fine to me!?!!? I always have 10 thousand and 1 unconnected sectors. I try to fix them by hand, but they remain broken, is there a solution for this as well? Like does DeepSea have a quick fix for this?

So probably you Zennoded your wad but used the old broken version instead of the new one, which went into c:\windows. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm6.gif

Well I don't want to make a public post it's nothing special, but still I'd like the level to remain a mystery till it is actually finished and complete. If someone would like to look at it I could get it to you somehow, but I'll have to down size a bit first as the files are quite huge and I am on dial up. Let me know. Thankx!

To automatically use ZENNODE with DeePsea, click "Use Custom Node Builder", then click "Select Nodebuilder" and enter:
1. Tool Exe: where Zennode is for example c:\zennode\zennode.exe
2. Tool Parameters: -rz ~deep.wad %level -o $pwad
3. Working Directory: c:\deepsea or wherever DeePsea is installed
To get to that screen, either make shift a line back/forth and save or select File/Build Node.

DeePsea has a check for unclosed sectors and a fix for them. It doesn't always work if your sectors are really fucked up though. That would lead to GL holes though.

In the help file, press index and look up "Sector Not Closed". Fix all those mistakes since they are what are causing the "holes".
Each error is causing 2 messages. The 2nd set is more exact about the error location. If you run the error check with the log turned off, each error will stop and show the area if you press cancel.
This is directly related to how you draw your levels. If you start/stop, delete and recreate lines you have to fix the sidedef sector references. It's not hard to do once you understand the problem.
With v11.77, click on the "sector" area in the -bottom- information display for the side with the error. Now enter the correct sector as explained in the help.
The tags are just tags you forgot to complete with both a linedef and a sector tag to match.
The texture thing is weird though. How did you enter a texture in there that is not found? Not possible unless you used something else that doesn't check for valid textures when you enter them.
Other errors should be self explanatory.

I have NOOOO clue how that missing texture got there. Perhaps I had to dump something out of the texture WAD using XWE, and it failed to do its job and update the Texture1 and PNAMES!?!?! But if that were the case then you would think DeepSea would notice that next time I opened the program. I'm not sure, it's just me, I'm cursed.
Thankx for the help, I'll goto the help section and look up "Sector Not Closed" and see if I can figure the rest out as well. I just don't understand why this is happening in the first place though. There should be walls without textures, I did that on purpose I know that much, but as for my vectors not connecting.....
...beats the hell out of me, I connect them with a very steady hand or so I thought.

"Sector not closed" is a bad term - it's just that's the name used by DEU and it stuck. It doesn't mean they don't connect, just that you have sidedefs facing each other that do not have the same sector number.
You'll see - the help has a few little picture diagrams to make it clear.

can you change the error so it reads:
Sector X has sidedefs facing each other that do not have the same sector number.

It does explain (from the above):
<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetica, serif">quote:</font><hr width="100%" size="1" noshade><font face="Trebuchet MS, Arial, Helvetica, serif" size="2">Sectors 181 and 156 not closed!
(Not the same Sector)
Check LineDef 1726 (SideDef1 2857)
and LineDef 1576 (SideDef 2558)</font><hr width="100%" size="1" noshade></BLOCKQUOTE>
If I remember I can reword it a bit though. Don't think it will make anymore sense, since one has to understand the problem in the first place http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif
