Don't know if this is the right forum for this 3d map editing question but here goes:
I was wondering if there is a way to make more than two "levels". For example, if you make a bridge that you can walk over and under, is it possible to make another bridge over it or under it for that matter? Two tags can't point to the same sector (or at least I can't get it to do so) so that doesn't work. I have also tried creating an exact replica of the sector in question and overlaying it then tagging to it but this doesn't work either.

You can have atleast 20 3d floors stacked in the same sector. I wouldn't recommend it though.

Is that because of the slow down problem?

curious..
can the line def's be stacked also ? or will the sector have to be smaller as you stack ?
hmm well i geuss the sector would have to be a little smaller or larger than the one underneth, if not the line defs/tags would get in the way.. ?
i havnt tryed a 3rd or 4th and so on ,story yet just the 2nd..
this is what my maps looking like so far..

Ahh, so it is possible! Cool. Now the only question is how to go about doing this. I don't really care about slowdown regardless of the severity. The way that I read to create a 3d structure is to tag it to a sector. When I try to tag another thing to the same sector though, it cancels the tag from 3d structure so I cannot stack the things. Is there some other way to do this?

Mr. Rocket: Excuse me. But do you know how to make 3d floors in legacy? You don't draw sectors above eachoter. you tag a sector and have another sector give the properties of the 3d floor.
Boingo: Yeah it'll get slow fast.

Ok, let me put it this way. If YOU (ebola) wanted to tag both a 3d bridge sector and a translucent water sector both to a normal floor, how would you go about doing it? Sorry if I seem a little too persistant but I have searched far and wide for how to do this but to no avail.

It's very easy. Since you can only use 1 tag for 1 sector. You make the stuff you wanna to and tag it to the sector by using the same tag number for all those objects.

HAHAHAHA. I feel moronic. I just had it it my brain that tags were specific for sectors. I didn't think that they were seperate from them. Thanks man.

In case you run into problems putting smimmable colored water below a 3D floor here's the procedure:
You need 2 reference or "dummy" sectors.
Dummy one is your 3D floor. Dummy one is for your smimmable water. Now to make the water colored and because the colormap linedef doesn't work and you can't just add it to the smimmable water linedef (it makes your 3D floor go all wonky) you have to add the 242 linedef to one wall of your smimmable water dummy sector. Remember to make your swimmable water sector the same hieght and texture as the cieling of your original sector. Now if you add the 242 lindef to one side of the dummy sector, then tag it to the same dummy sector, add the colormap to the lower texture slot, and your laughing.
I'm writing this from memory so if it doesn't work mail me and I'll help you out.
