An other guy and me tried playing Legacy over the net. He have a 28k modem, and I have a 33k modem, since I had the best I was the server. It went okay for me, completely smooth, but for him it went awfully horrible. I assume this was because I have a slow modem, and the server needs to have a fast internet connection. Is that correct? Or is there no hope for me and my friend, and we won't be able to play Doom over the net as long as we have the modems?

Alas, legacy does not have the client server code of CSdoom. This results in laggy-poos for modems.
Try CSdoom (shudder). But for know, with legacy you will probally be stuck to single player games.
Don't worry. I've been playing with myself for years and it never did me any dammage... ;p

Dang... well I hope the game will get better client code in the future. In the meantime I'll just play splitscreen... oh, what would I do without it.

Don't worry, we (mainly Boris) are working on that. Then, it should run 1 vs 1 quite well on your connection if the ping (between your computer and your friend's computer) is not too much high. I hope it will be done soon.

Great to hear that, Hurdler, can't wait 'til the next version is out.
