How to patch the Doom2 v.1.666 -1.9 ?

Tired of trying, all it says is:

Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was
found. No update done since file contents do not match.

This might be a stupid question, by why is everyone patching 1.666 to 1.9?

why not get all the patches from id?

I think they wanna upgrade because if you use the launcher, you get an error with 1.666.

Got same trouble with the "pirated" version idsoftware doesn't supprot with their patches.

Okay, here is what works:
Go to http://www.clanvile.com on left of page under "doom2" "essential files" is a patch d2_16_19 download and unzip to doom2 folder
run updgrade.bat you may get an error(ignore) but it fixes the date error generated by other patches
then run phase_1.bat this can take a while and even look as if its stuck , be patient
then run phase_2.bat
file size of doom2.wad at end should be 14,604,584 bytes
