An Imp? Ahhh why can't I fire?! Noooooo!

Hey everybody, I have a problem which needs some attension...

I have a "Gravis Gampad Pro UBS," and when I try to play Doom Legacy, (and only this program), the buttons, (not the directional pad), work only from time to time.

Can someone tell me why this is?
It's using direct x buttons, I don't see why it should be doing this, it works in everything else?

Will I never play split screen with out kicking my computer? (I don't actually do that, because that would probably be the cause if I did).

Yes, only in slipt screen mode.

I tried making player one use the controler, but no matter what I do, the directonal pad makes the 2nd player move

But, in single player mode, it works just fine

VenGeance, do you have an idea about the problem? (since you asked if it only happens in splitscreen mode)
