Missing Files!!!

I have to confess that I haven't unzipped my copy of Legacy 1.30 yet. However, I was talking to Frozen Statik yesterday, and he complained the he wasn't able to run Legacy! He said that Windows told him several important files were missing.

Eventhough I haven't played the new version yet, I suspect this is true, because Legacy pre realease 8 was also missing files, and I had to move it to the directory with prerelease 7 in it in order to get it to run.

This is less a concern for me, because I have all the files to allow Legacy to run, but it is a major concern for new players. If they try to play Legacy and get error messages instead, they aren't likely to give Legacy much of a chance. They are more likely to just delete the faulty copy of Legacy from their hard drives and go play ZDooM. We really don't want that to happen, do we?

Please check out what files are currently included in the Legacy zip file, and either add the missing files to it, or create a second zip file including the missing files.

I unzipped my new Legacy in a empty folder, add Doom2.wad, and the launcher, the only two files that isn't there, and ran it. No problem. I played Monkey in that game. Pretty stable. http://www.newdoom.com/ubb/smile.gif

Well, that's only because it's not an official release... I put that file on the old forum because you know very well that only our long time users go there now (well, say 99%).
BTW, as Ferrari said, there is no important files missing, only the launcher and the docs.

I don't know. I've tried to tell them to come over. They say they're tired of moving from forum to forum. If they move here, it'll be a 5th time. Monkey, Boingo and I are the ones that moved here.

Well, hate to say it, but the only way to do it, is to shut the other one down, so they don't have a choice. That's not up to me, but that's the only way people who don't like change have to face new things: make it absolutely clear that if they don't move forwards, they'll get left behind.

Frozen Statik got Legacy 1.30 to work after all. So I guess there isn't really a problem.

As for me, I do zip back and forth between both forums, although I do now spend a lot of time here corrupting other peoples threads into long winded stories http://www.newdoom.com/ubb/biggrin.gif.

I am pretty sure that most people are either using this forum, or moving between both forums as I do. I don't see much of a problem. Most of the forum traffic appears to be over here now. The old forum is just there to act as an emergency backup.

Well, for the old forum stuff, closing it is not possible because it's faB who has the admin of admin priviledge (subadmin like me cannot close it).
I'll remove the link to the old forum in the next few days and put a message there asking for moving here.

i suppose most of ya don't know me, but i was followin' Doom Legacy since about vers 1.25... didn't post anything on the forums 'till about 1.28 and never introduced myself, but i just wanna say i like the old forum.

Yes ferrari. Well, I think Boris has sometimes some contact with faB, but not daily and i'm not sure they talk a lot about doom legacy.
