View Full Version : Only 1 flaw with JDoom!

I originally started off using JDoom 1.0 2 - 3days ago and thought that was superb, then I updated to latest version.

I wondered orinally why all the enemies etc where sprites, until GothmoG helped me out and I got the MD2 pack off him.

But one problem I notice with the 1.0 version was that it was VERY, VERY dark and I had to alter my Card and/or monitor brightness to resolve it.

I thought when I downloaded the newer version a "Brightness" slider would have been introduced to the options menu, but oddly it hadn't been introduced.

So I face the same problem with the latest version of JDoom, it is simply too dark!

I know there is a setting I can change in the jdoom.cfg file but that only has 3 levels or brightness (dark, normal or light). It is set on normal and if I set it to light it is far to bright to use.

So will there be a a brightness slider introduced to JDoom at all? Like what EDGE has in its program, and it works very well I might add!

If it wont be introduced can I do anything to get round this problem, apart from fiddling with my hardware?

Also whilst Im here, how about a "More Blood" option, Also like EDGE has? Not really important that one, but it would be a nice touch http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

But I would like to end this post with apraisal to the Developer(s) of JDoom, cos it is a f**king SUPERB mod for doom, and I do really enjoy playing doom again now. And that wouldn't have been without JDoom/Doomsday!

Thanks

Cheb is the more blood download uninstallable?

Cos if I d/l it and the blood is too "overboard" then I will want to return to the original!

I havent d/l it yet, so I dont know what it looks like.

Also do you have any pics/screenshots of your models that you make for doomsday? Once again I dont want to use them if they are not as good as the originals!

Cheers.

All "non-official" features need to manually point KickStart to attach specific DEDs (i.e. after you installed them they will not run automatically) - to know more about how to do this, read info on my site.
To disable effects again, just detach DEDs in KickStart.

Screenshots of all models are now available on my site - just click the "Per-model authorship info" link.

Ok Cheb I am going to give them a go, they look pretty good!

Well so far I have seen the Pistol guy and Chaingun guy (they look good).

I hope this def doesn't replace any of my existing enemies into the Wolf SS guy?!?!?

If I were you I would also consider moving to a new server.... damn it is slow! And I am on Broadband (512/250)!!!

Cheb, how many pain skins do each of your models have?

About narod.ru server... It's strange that it works so slow... For me, it shows lighting-fast speed of 2 or even 3 Kbytes per second!

ANYWAY, FROM NOW ALL UPDATES I WILL MADE I WILL PUT TO FOURWINDS FTP SERVER, SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT THIS!

Pain skins quantity?.. Varies from monster to monster. Zombie has one, Imp - two, demon and cacodemon - three, Baron - five, and allmighty cyberdemon has 7 pain skins - maximum that Doomsday supports.

Hey keogh does pressing F11 change the lighting in Jdoom for you??? Try it if you haven't already or somebody already mentioned this....

It dont matter now doom_dude, I have Jdoom 1.14 and it has a TOP QUALITY http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif brightness control on the control panel that works perfectly.

So there is no need to do that nor turn the brightness up on the monitor, WOOHOO!!
