View Full Version : JDoom 1.13 and 3D Enemies?
July 10th, 2002, 01:18 PM
I downloaded JDoom v1.0 today and run that and loved it.
The only prob with that was that the Jump didnt seem to work? And also there was no Brightness slider to brighten the screen which was ennoying as the game was soooooooo dark.
So I downloaded Jdoom 1.13 (the latest version) and installed that.
It runs fine and the jump works. Also the brightness seems to be ok.
BUT the problem with this is the enemies and items scattered around are just sprites like the original game? How comes they aren't like the enemies and items in v1.0? I got 3d models selected to yes, but that hasn't done anything? So how do I get the models to be full 3d?

Download the latest model packs and install them, then it should work just fine.

Yeah I actually just found that out, but where can I get them from?
The downloads on www.doomsdayhq.com (http://www.doomsdayhq.com) are down so cant get anything from there so where else is there to get them from? And do I just install them into the jdoom folder?

I dont know where u can get them, but when u do, they have a default unpacking directory "c:\doomsday\md2\jdoom\" so unpack all of them there and just move the whole "md2" directory from "c:\doomsday" to ur jdoom folder

If u use dc (direct connect) and r not asleep yet, i can let u download my doomsday (with models) only without the wads
July 10th, 2002, 02:40 PM
I dont know what DC is, sorry?
But I am on broadband, and if you could maybe get them on to some webspace.... or even a peer 2 peer product (i.e. Morpheus) then I will get them from you there?
July 10th, 2002, 02:42 PM
i dont run any kazaa or morpheus stuff because DC is a lot better http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif the archive is 14 mb, i dont have that much web space (i only have 10 mb), so i dont know how we could connect.
July 10th, 2002, 02:44 PM
How bout zipping them up and emailing them to me?
Or is that to big a file to do?
If that is ok can you email them to firstname.lastname@example.org
July 10th, 2002, 02:45 PM
Its already rared and its 14 mb, so i cant email it to u in one piece.
July 10th, 2002, 02:46 PM
Whats DC then? And how do I get it?
July 10th, 2002, 02:51 PM
Dc is a something like peer2peer software, u download the client from "http://www.neo-modus.com/?page=Download". Install it, and run it, u will have to configure ur username, connection type, then advance to the file transfer tab and add at least one folder or drive to the list, then click ok. Go to connect menu, type IP 18.104.22.168 and hit connect, u should be at my temporary dc server, when u will be there we will talk http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

Im currently downloading a file called md2.zip from 3ddownloads. It said it was the models for Jdoom, so I will try them and if that dont work Ill try DC.
Give us a few minutes.
July 10th, 2002, 02:55 PM
well ok, i can spare a few minutes http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

I downloaded the md2 file and firslty extracted it to my desktop to see the file structure.
It extracted to Md2/the models
There was no jdoom folder in the md2 folder.
I moved the md2 folder as it is to the doomsday file and run doomsday and it didnt work.
I then put all those models in a folder called jdoom within the md2 folder and that didnt work neither.
All the models are .md2 and .pcx files. The pcx files are the images of the models and they all look fine.
So why isn't it working? What file structure do you have exactly for yours? And are they .md2 and .pcx files?
July 10th, 2002, 03:11 PM
inside the md2/jdoom folder i got a couple more for each group of models, monst, play, fx, hud etc. And yes they are in md2 and pcx format.
July 10th, 2002, 03:15 PM
I got different files and it dont seem to be working.
Im d/l the direct connect thingy, is it ok if I hook up to your machine and download them from you?
July 10th, 2002, 03:44 PM
I tried running your version that went on my desktop and it worked fine.

that's gr8 http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif maybe we could play online some day ;D
July 11th, 2002, 06:29 AM
Sounds good to me.
But you will have to give me a little time to get up to speed with my old doom skills... its been about 5 years since I played doom properly and I am a little rusty at it at the moment.
Also I will have to get use to the jump, mouselook etc http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

U said that u finished doom on nightmare a couple of times. I find doom the hardest fpp ever, and i played it all (or most of it http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/wink.gif) So when u practice a bit, maybe i'll have a chance :P
July 12th, 2002, 01:27 AM
Yeah I done Doom on Nightmare a few times, but that was 5 years ago.
I had forgot what the game looked like let alone how to play it?
I tried it on nightmare again yesterday and got whooped... Im not as good as I use to be, well at the moment anyway.
If I played online now I would get destroyed and we can't be having that can we http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm20.gif
July 12th, 2002, 03:17 AM
Why cant we ? http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm32.gif I play doom on ultra-violence and its the hardest fpp i've ever played http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/wink.gif
July 12th, 2002, 06:18 AM
Yeah, yeah I notice those smileys ( http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm1.gif ) you put in that sentance, you are probably the DOOM Master and want to humiliate me... well it aint gonna happen http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif
July 13th, 2002, 08:52 AM
I'm not a DooM master, of that i can assure you, never played it for long really, when i got my pc, there was already duke3d and soon quake was out, i really am running through doom on ultra-violence and its really really hard for me, so i guess if u practice for a month then u would beat me for sure http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif
