Is .deh support only slightly implimented into Doomsday? I read the FAQ where it said the Aliens TC can be played. I figured this same method would work for similar TCs. So I've tried both the Army of Darkness TC (http://ftp.sunet.se/pub/pc/games/idgames/themes/aod/) and the WolfenDoom TC (http://www.doomworld.com/wolfendoom/index2.html) and they both seem to only semi-work.
Graphics, maps, and sound changes seem to work fine. It's just other things.
For example, in the AoD TC, the exit from the first to the second stage is supposed to be covered until you do something to unlock it. Running it via Doomsday, and you can exit the map right at the very beginning of the game, no problem.
And in WolfenDoom, you're supposed to be able to choose which episode you want to play right before choosing the difficulty. This menu appear fine in the Dehacked DOS version, but doesn't appear when using Doomsday.
I wonder if maybe it's a problem with Doomsday only partially-using the .deh file. I attempted to do as was instructed in the Aliens question in the FAQ, and use DedManager (both 1.13 from the unified package, and 1.14d2 from the ddutils package) to merge the TC's .deh file into a new cloned jDoom.ded file. But when I attempt to, I get an illegal operations crash with a log message in the background that reads:
Applying DeHackEd patch (length=10484)...
Thing 2 out of range. Create more Thing Defs!
with the AoD .deh. And the following with the WolfenDoom .deh:
Applying DeHackEd patch (length=6926)...
Patch does not have DeHackEd signature. Assuming .bex.
Thing 2 out of range. Create more Thing Defs!
Anyone know what's going on?
Thanks. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif
