View Full Version : Couple of quick questions

Hey, I just downloaded the new version (1.13.1) and I've configured it more or less how I used to have it (version 1.11(?)). I have a couple of questions:

1. First and foremost, my colors are all messed up. the fonts are kinda pastel colors and everything looks like I need to degauss my moniter REALLY bad. I thought I found something about this on the JDoom site, but I have'nt subsequently found it. Help me fix this please. Anyone.

2. I had my friend download JDoom so we could deathmatch each other. Is there gonna be any issues if hes using cable and I'm using a crappy 56k?

3. My friend can't see medkits/stimpaks. This is probably due to the lens flares but any insight is good.

and finally,
4. Is there any way to make the lens flares look like they did in version 1.11? I tried the codeing in the faq on the JDoom site, but its still not the same enough.

First off, welcome to the Forums

1. Are you using the kicks.exe if so make sure that texture compression is unchecked. it is under the graphics tab.

2. I don't think so but I am not an expert in this area.

3. Did your friend install the model packs?
if so try the following.

reinstall the following files

models-nature.exe
models-monsters1.exe
models-monsters2.exe
models-monsters3.exe
models-players.exe

but when you do, make sure they are set for
c:\Doomsday
not
C:\Program Files\Doomsday

4. I'm not sure.

Hmm. Seems my graphic card didn't like OpenGL. Wow I'm dumb and should have checked that before. Now all I need is to get it back running at 35 fps like it used to run. Oh well, I might as well get a new computer/graphics card http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm1.gif Thanks for the help!

I'm not using anything special, thats probably one reason. It is just a NVidia Riva TNT 2. I plan on buying my friends computer off of him though and I'm going to sell the geforce2 that goes with it to buy a geforce4. Also, I didn't realize until earlier that I only have 64 MB of RAM.
