hello, everyone. i must apologize if my own reply to my last post was a little rude, but i'm very frustrated with not being able to install my patch. at any rate, i now have a slight glitch which is very mysterious to me. after trying to manually have dlaunch use the 1.1 .exe and .dll, i ended up uninstalling and reinstalling jdoom (i messed with things i probably should've left alone, and could not get dlaunch to work correctly, though the game would still launch from the jdoom shortcut). i left my original program folder intact, since uninstall shield didn't remove it. this worked great until i started having problems with dlaunch again: as soon as i load a saved game (from the launcher), it crashes and gives me the following error: S-getch: snd still playing! h:0 org:00000000 sifx:00000000. but if i uncheck "load game" in the launcher, and load the save from the ingame options, it works fine. i actually uninstalled jdoom three times after encountering problems, and the last time i deleted the jdoom program file as well and cleaned dlaunch from the registry. if someone has any thoughts at all, please help! http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm45.gif
btw, i copied and pasted doom.wad into my jdoom directory and then converted it into doom.gwa with glbsp. just in case that helps.

well, i seemed to have fixed both problems at once, though i had to reinstall one more time. as far as the patch goes, i finally figured out to unzip to the jdoom dir. i know, 2 + 2, but i'm a little slow sometimes. with the updates installed, it seems to be running reliably with the launcher, but that doesn't really explain the sudden glitch when it was originally working under 1.0. -shrug-

i ran the setup for 1.11, and it shows up in the version history, but the startup for doomsday says 1.04. normal?

thanks, to anybody who reads this. don't mean to seem such a pest. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm1.gif

That's weird. It should say version 1.11

Boot up the game. Press the ~ key to bring down the console. Look at bottom right and in green it'll give you the version. I know when it's booting it does say 1.04 as the txt scrolls past..

You're not being a pest! You're just trying to get some help with something that can be very confusing. Hope you get it working ok and sorry that nobody bothered to help you out.

ah... i haven't checked the console yet. thanks so much for the info, and just the response in general. btw, what is the best way to play the other three WAD files once i've finished UDoom? the only way i could figure out to get jDoom to work was to copy and paste doom.wad into the jdoom dir. after that worked, i copied and pasted the other three there as well, but that appatently just confused the launcher... when i try and change the WAD file in the launcher, it won't just let you specify DOOM2.WAD, etc-- it has to have a path. is that the way to do it, and just remove the previous WAD file? just curious, when the time comes...

thanks again.

I think you can just specify the path, but I always install JDooM2 into another folder than JDooM1 and leave the two games separate so that they don't conflict in any way. I know it is possible to have one installation which works with all Iwads but I prefer to keep them separate.
