Whenever I try to load up jDoom through DLaunch.exe, I get the following message:

Initializing A3D.
I_StartupSound: Error initializing sound.
MUS_Init: Midi available OK and OK.
Executable: Version 1.0 Aug 9 2001 (DGL).

W_GetNumForName: PNAMES not Found!

Then the game crashes back to desktop. I can load the game through jDoom.bat But then the game has no sounds (only midi music).

My soundcard is a SBLIVE! and I am using the DoomII WAD.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hey people!
I've got the same problem... would be nice if someone could help us!
I've got a Terratec Xfire 1024, so it seems it is not the soundcard...

This should help:

If you are using the Doom2.wad say, make sure it is in the same directory as jDoom if you are using the launcher.
The problem with the sound is that you have selected A3D sound but your soundcard is not supporting it. go and edit the jDoom.bat file with notepad and take away the '-a3d' switch in the command line. This should get the sound working.
Good luck!

True, as of v1.0, it appears there are problems with some sound cards and A3D. Jaakko is working on this and there should be a fix in v1.01. He mentions this in the latest update on the JDoom homepage.
