Well, as much fun as me and Lance shall have tommorrow at our first official Magic: the Gathering tournament, there's been alot of crap that's happened this week. Mainly, death.
Tuesday around 3 am my great grandfather died. Wednsday I went to the funeral. Sometimes it's hard to tell if people are sad because they lose the person, or because of the concept of Death, being final, in itself. I for one did neither. While he was my great grandfather, I didn't know him well enough to be too upset by his passing. Others on the other hand, mainly my great grandmother and my aunt, were more upset than others.
The thing is is that death doesn't bother me. Personally, I think it's just something that happens, and you can't avoid it, and it can happen at anytime. You could die of natural causes, ie. heart failure, or some freak accident, ie. a meteor nails you in the head. But the thing being I realize is it doesn't just happen to old people. While I'm not a morbid person that goes around obsessing over death all the time, I am prepared for when the time comes. It won't suprise me by any means.
The thing is is that in alot of ways though, death is cheap. No longer do people die of natural causes, but of murder and war and etc. Everytime you turn on the news, you see it. It's everywhere. With the End Times rolling in and the Apocalyptics gathering their believers it's just bound to rise to further heights. I'm not a overly religous person but I do believe in a God and a Satan. It's more of a preperation for a "What If" type thing. As for the Anti-Christ and that whole deal, I believe it can be possible. I think it can explain why the world is the way it is now to some extent, the remaining that needs explaining is simple, we cause our own destruction as human beings, because it's our nature.
Heck, I admitt that if I was bothered by death in the least, I wouldn't be playing DooM more than likely. Of course being the way I am, I play DooM (even if I didn't play the game itself for the purpose of killing, I'd still build levels under the fact that I love building things, hmm, architect, yet another possible occupation).
Turns out that tommorrow one of my best friends, Coleman, can't come with me and Lance. His grandfather died, so he has to attend a funeral tommorrow. This morning when he said who it was, it didn't really affect me. Then when Lance arrived I said, "Coleman cant come with us 'cause his grandpa croaked." Later I felt really bad about saying that. Coleman is one of my friends I care more for and we've been friends for a long time. More than likely I'll call him later and let him know that I'm sorry while I'm talking to him. Also my friend, TJ, well a grandfather somewhere down his family line died too this last week. I suppose the purpose in saying that is just as a point as to how much death there is. I don't know, I just had to get all of this off of my chest, it's been there since around the beginning of this week with the start of it being my great grandfather dying. If anyone has any comments, feel free to say anything, might help a little http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm10.gif
