i have a problem with halflife

when i try to play halflife the console says that it couldn't exec confic.cfg then it starts the game but i can't move or anything, is there anything i can do about this problem? My computer has windows xp on it. I tryed to get the newest patch but that didn't work.

I suggest uninstalling it and reinstalling it. If you have savegames then copy them first. If that doesn't work I have no clue.

I know I know!
The config.cfg is the file that stores all set keys.
Check in the hl\valve directory for the file.
If its there, check so thats its not writeprotected.
If its not there, either reinstall hl or ask a friend that has hl to send his cfg file.

That sounds right. I think you could just move the file out of the orig dir and I'm sure the game will just make a new one anyhow. I think.

there's your problem right there. It's trying to execute "confic.cfg" while the real file is "config.cfg".

Try modifying an RC file to correct the spelling.

Are you sure that the file in question is not copy protected? Does it exists? Does more than one exist? And always remember, you need Administration login to really make things happen in WinXP. Try to run in Win98 compatibility mode. (right click the shortcut)

Just re-installed Half Life today and man it was a pain in tha ass. The install program kept locking up my Duron so I had to install it on my 200MMX and copy it onto the Duron. It works fine and plays great. I forgot how fun that game was and how great a job Valve did on it.
