1) Intel or AMD?
2) nVIDIA, ATi or 3dfx?

If possible, state the reason.

1) AMD
Intel P3 Needs its own board and chip. AMD is still socket 7. That means that you don't have to pay 100$ more for the board and 70$+ more for the chip. And it is good and reliable. On the other hand, P3 has AMD conqored pretty badly speedwise. But you would never notice that becouse the faster P3 boards and chips are expinsive. In other words, with both companies, what you pay is what you get. P3 is faster. AMD is cheaper but still reliable and not even close to slow. Just AMD fits my finacial and speed boundries just dandy.

2)3dfx
This might change in the near future. I'll list my reasons for supporting 3dfx.

1)Quality
I have never ever had any sort of problems. Ever.

2)Speed
This might not be true anymore, but for a while 3dfx was the top in speed.

3)Support
Nothing does not support 3dfx. Period.

If another manufactuerer can prove these things to me and is better than 3dfx,that is great. I just don't have the money to experement right now.

Whatever is cheapest. I'm living on a budget, you know.

Laura likes to shop a lot, which is hard on the pocket book. She always seems to buy the same outfit, though. Our closet is filled with at least thirty pairs of Khaki shorts, and halters. Over on the dresser, there are ten or more belts with large square buckles. Eight pairs of hiking boots are lined up at the front door.

I've tried to get her to wear other outfits, including a sexy chainmaille bikini (picture coming soon), but it doesn't seem to help. Even showing her scenes of Lara Croft in different outfits from the other Tomb Raider games doesn't help.

BTW: Monkey. Laura told me to tell you this. The next time you visit, could you please talk to her face, and not her breasts? She is becoming very annoyed.

Intel.

It was in all the PC's I ever had, and had no problems whatsoever.

That's all I need to say.

1) I go for Intel too.

2) I am not exactly sure. Just not nVIDIA for their horrible 2D.

AMD, for it's speed(reserve)and cheaper, of course the 1.1 giga and nvidia, best support and ahead of the rest.

ATi and their Radeon is ahead of nVIDIA in technology. 3 textures and designed for DX8. Right now nVIDIA has a *slight* edge over Radeon but the 3d quality is nowhere close to it. When the new games with 3 textures and based on DX8 Radeon is going to pull ahead.
Remember, Radeon is only pumping out at 2/3 its power.

At 1024x768 and above, this is the fastest video card you'll find on the market today. RADEON is the card that's going to put ATI back up on the map, even with the problems (no FSAA in OpenGL in shipping drivers; there is some strange artifacting in 16-bit color).

Quake III runs at...WOW...35.4fps in 1600x1200 resolution!!

Okay I confess, I stole that first paragraph practically word for word from HSReviews in PC Gamer's October issue. Sorry Vederman. No hard feelings, right?

That is no exuise. Napster increased Metallica's record sales (big streach there), but they still did the things they did.

Isn't technology wonderful?
As soon as you buy the latest-and-greatest PC you can, it's old once it's out the door.
