Quake 2 Available Now !!

How come id software's site is never updated or anything . Anytime i go over there its like being caught in a internet time capsule or somethin' . The title page still has this animation jobby that says : Quake II Available Now ! ( sorta funny ) . Don't they have any coin to give some unemployed sap to keep the cobwebs outta there . Some little update tidbits or interviews would help spruce up the joint . Shheeeeeeeeeeesh !

They're site isn't really important. They only update it seldom, and the last time was for a link to quake3arena.com (i think???). But they really have no need to update it with all their ads and stuff outside and in catalogs. The site is merely for bios, and contact and product info. The products they have listed go back a ways. (And I have them ALL! HAHAHA!!)

Well I agree with you doom dude. I think they should update it much more often and they should have their own new doom site perhaps...or maybe they are waiting till they have a name for it.

At the very least they could get rid of that advert that tells us Quake 2 is now available !! I bought it waaaaaaaaaaaaay back like lotsa people and everyone on this planet knows its available now . It makes the site look ancient and irrelevant . I wanna see somethin' interesting there but i guess i'm just crazy . I have it in my mind that the id software site should be absolutely cool and cutting edge but it just remains the same , day in and day out .

I couldn't agree more and not only is it behind the times but it looks really crap. They should hire some really good web designers and make some really cool intros, sounds and stuff. Its not as if they can't afford it.

Yeah , King_Ralph , they could have some of the crankin' cool Quake 2 tunes happening and candid pics of the id janitor cleaning Carmack's office . Or maybe some of the artwork that the id designers did for the past games . Man it sure would be cool to see some of the preliminary art that was done for Doom and Quake on their site . Why come we don't get to see cool s^&t like that . The art and stuff is probably stuck in a big , grey , ugly , filing cabinet someplace that no dude will ever see ( a shame ). And thats just one of the things they could do .

In Spear of Destiny (the ORIGINAL sequel to Wolf3D), the credits at the end of the game feature preliminary art outlines of BJ and some kewl lookin' dudes....kinda neat :)

...........and still the "id" site remains exactly the same as it was before. Yep. Quake 2 is still avaiable now! Hahaha. Gee i hope it hits the stores soon! Shheeeesh. If they don't spruce up the site soon , the spiders will move in and cover the place with webs. Maybe they will update it in 2002.

Ya, i did notice that. Plus he does edit for Boom also. I just gotta get around to playing some of his stuff.

I do believe i played one of his quake 2 levels way back. I think it was 5fiffy2, a single player map, that was pretty cool. Hmmmmmmmmmm....i wonder if i still have that on my hard drive?

Most of the stuff he did for vanilla Doom2 is pretty good. Euthanasia (2Fiffy4, I think) and the three or four following maps (especially Citadeth) are excellent actually. Too bad about the really awful yellow sky graphic though. Most of the stuff he did for Boom has a lot of X-treme detail, which does look nice, but tends to have a negative effect on gameplay. LOC and Sudden Death are the best Boom maps he made imo.

Oh, I just don't remember that old stuff. It doesn't mean I may not have heard it before.
I lost all interest in the early/mid '80's when hair bands polluted the airwaves (puke my brains out). Grunge came along, then good things happened, like hair bands dissapearing. All was safe again.

I do listen to the rock/metal genre, but now what sucks is the cRAP/ROCK stuff. How lame-ass '90's is that?
