Well, I need your help. I need all of you to tell me some songs that were in DooM 1 and 2. If you have no clue what im talking about go to http://www15.brinkster.com/orionxnavas/ click on download, and then on either DooM1 or 2, I need all of them filled out if possible and I can't do that by myself so I'm asking you, the people who might know some of these, to help. Thanks!

Hmm, well see doom songs are copies of real songs done by artists such as Slayer and Pantera. I am trying to find out which songs are on different maps. Like Slayer's "Behind the Crooked Cross" was played in E3M3. I just want to find out every song played in DooM and put it on my webpage, so when people hear a cool song in DooM and want to download it they can go to my site look at the map## and find out the artist and song name. I can not explain it any other way so I hope you and everyone else confused gets it.
I'm having problems with my site since it doesn't want to update the changes I made yesterday... pressing refresh does work, but people expect it updated when they come there and don't know they have to press refresh, so they think it hasn't been updated in a while, so this sucks.

Aight, the idea of a DooM Music site was a bad. No way am I going to find out all the songs that were in doom when there isn't anyone that cares or knows any of them. And how am I supposed to post ppl's midis if no one ever makes any. Come on, who here ever thought to themself, "Hey, I'm gonna make a DooM midi cuz I'm bored." NO ONE! Bah, time to start thinking of a new purpose for my site.
BTW I am having the worst new years ever! http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smilies/cwm45.gif

Actually, most of the songs in Doom and Doom2 are original tunes straight from Bobby Prince's little head :) Some of them do bear a certain resemblance to songs by other artists. Here is what I know:
Hellkeep (e3m1) -sounds kinda like Pantera's "Mouth for War"
Barrels 'o Fun (? I forget:) -sounds like Alice In Chains "Them Bones"
Hangar (E1M1) -supposedly rips Master of Puppets by Metallica, but personally I don't hear it.
There's the Slayer one you mentioned.
I think that's about it....

Actually, Stphrz, there is a LITTLE resemblance to MOP and E1M1 music. Listen to the part right after the 1'st little riff. It almost sounds like part of MOP.
Prince was a rip-off artist.

A poorly mixed one if it was trying to sound like the original song, but all the notes are there!

Yes, it IS AIC's Them Bones, and another Doom 2 songs IS AIC's Angry Chair. And one of the Doom 1 songs IS Slayer's Beyond the Crooked Cross
Look for midis of these three songs on the net, they sound almost identical to the doom midis.

I already knew most of that, and it's "behind the crooked cross" not beyond. And no the point of the site is not for me to put midis on it that I found on the web it's to make you people make midis, send them in so I can put them on my site for ppl to download.

No, I wasn't saying to put the midis on your site, I was referring to a couple of posts where people say they simply sound similar to the songs in question; they ARE the songs in question.
Anyway, what exactly do you mean by "Doom midis"? Tunes people make for Doom levels? Their own versions of existing Doom songs?

Monster Condo in DooM II sports a rip-off of a Pantera song as well. I think it's called "-something- Love". VERY identical again.

I mean, like some original midis made by people like you or me that fit the doom theme. Something fast, dark, creepy, and so on (whenever I hear those words Slayer pops into my head...). Only problem is I only know one person that makes midis. And one person isn't enough. http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smilies/cwm14.gif

Here's a few more I've noticed (you have to forgive incorrect names, I'm not really a huge fan of any of these bands):
d_e1m1 actually uses an ancient blues riff that many songs had used before Metallica was even formed.
d_e2m1 was allegedly heavily inspired by AC/DC's Big Gun, but I haven't heard that song I don't know for sure.
d_e2m8 sounds very similar to a song in one o the Blake Stone games (I think it was Planetstrike).
d_e3m1 sounds kinda like Pantera's Mouth For War in places.
d_inter sounds similar stylistically to a couple of Pantera songs, such as Hollow.
d_bunny's heavy parts sounds similar to AIC's Grind
Part of d_runnin sounds suspiciously like the James Bond theme http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smile.gif
d_shawn sounds slightly similar to AIC's Sludge Factory
Doom 1 and 2 may well have more songs that are either inspired by or direct copies of existing songs, but perhaps they're not by mainstream bands like Pantera, Slayer and AIC.

Most of these people have plenty of samples on their pages so you can see how good they are http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smile.gif
People that used to make Doom midis:
Jeremy Doyle (does have a site but I've forgotten the URL): Osiris PC, Icarus: Alien Vanguard
Mark Klem (http://elguapo.c-gate.net/~mklem): Mementom Mori 1&2, Gothic DM 1&2, Requiem, etc
Marc Pullen (http://www.doomworld.com/fanatic): Gothic DM 2, Gothic '99, New Breed, etc. He's actually still around, but he only does MP3s now
David Shaw (http://www.doomworld.com/tolwyn/): pretty much the same projects as Mark Klem
People that still do make Doom midis:
Nick Baker, aka me (http://haunt.8m.com/doom <- hasn't been updated in bloody ages http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smilies/cwm10.gif ): Paradox, Wrath, Crucified Dreams and Plutonia 2 - Look under Previews->Wrath for some samples.
Paul Corfiatis (http://www.geocities.com/paul33_au/): Death Tormention 1&2, 2001: ADO, Plutonia 2, etc
Vincent Fong (forgotten the URL): Execution and Crucified Dreams
"Ike" (http://www.newdoom.com/asylem/): Kill, RoD, Omega Day
Frederik Johannson (http://www.newdoom.com/fredrik/news.shtml): Doom 3057

looking through the list off people you left I'm pretty sure none of them would be intrested in makeing midis for fun. They are most likely using them in their projects, and don't have enough of a reason or time to make me one. What I want are midis that aren't in any projects, and were created for the fun of doing something for the doom community.
I just finished checking DooM for midis that were repeated, one song was even repeated 4 times in the following maps: e1m7, e2m5, e3m5, e4m8. Now I'm going to check DooM2.
orion

When I was makeing the chart I noticed a pattern of placment, it looked like songs were being repeated in a strange way. But later on I messed the chart up and didn't see the order anymore. I fixed it and it looks normal but thats not the case. Either I messed the chart up before I noticed the placment of the songs or after. However I'm pretty sure I messed it up after I saw the midis being placed in a looping way... I dunno and I don't feel like doing this again just to see if a midi was placed in a map cuz it was following a pattern.

heh thanks, the songs on there weren't my first choices, but most slayer songs can't be changed into midi so I was stuck with those (criminally insane and angel of death don't sound to good since the vocals were also changed along with everything else so it's messed up). The 2 fnm songs match doom pretty well, especially "as the worm turns," but out of all the songs I heard by them these are the only ones.
