Well, some of you surely read the threat with the "DOOM BACKROUND WALLPAPERS" and MONKEY has had a really cool idea! He asked for a new doom contest! But as I think WMULL is to busy in the WIAW contest, I will do this contest! i haven't noticed anything about it on the ORBIT INTERACTIVE page because we rebuild it completely! But I will tell you all here. The Contest Subject
is...

"Desktop DooM Theme"

...you will create a Desktop Theme for any Megawad for Doom or for any Texture pack or for any Doom Version and post it to tormentor667@gmx.de !!! The winner will get something! Rules are:

-Desktop Theme (DT) must include Icons for "My Computer","Networks", "Recycle Bin (Empty/Full)"
-DT must include cursors! They can be new or you can use cursors from the original Windows Desktop Themes
-DT must include new sounds for "Win Shut Down", "Win Startup" and 4 extra sounds for the rest (or some of the rest)
-DT must have a backround of something from the Megawad/TC/Texture Pack/Game. This can be either Textures or GFX Screens!
-DT does NOT have to have a .theme file! If you can't do this, I will do for you! But you can do if you want to!!!!

I think that's all! So get on your work! The deadline is the 1. February!

I'll probly be flamed for this, but it does answer your question Jamman. If your editor don't extract sounds from Doom, Download the shareware version of DeepSea it will do that for you. There are some old dos base programs that do this as well. DMAUD, DMFE (needs dmaud) you can download them here!

You're right Tormentor, 1 week is ashort time for a map, maybe you'll get several entries for your conttest!

It's WAY too difficult to put a high-quality map out in a week. I did that at the FASTEST when I made my "Castle of the Damned" PC for DooM. That's with no life, unemployment, AND sitting at the editor all day!
I'm sure the entries for WIAW are good, but it's exptremely hard to put a full effort into that without giving up life in general.

No problem! You only have to create Icons, Sounds and a Wallpaper as told above in the rules and I will do the rest for ya (this means colorsheme and theme file!

Thanks KR,Yep http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/biggrin.gif LTDoom theme. If any one would be interested..... I can make a quick set of instuctions on how to create themes. (its not really hard) You will need Win98/Win95plus in order to do a theme, or as Tormentor mentioned he can put it in a theme for you. The majority of your time will be gathering pic's and sounds. If you need a program for creating Icons and Cursors for your theme, I recommend Cursor Arts "Icon Forge" at http://www.cursorarts.com the 30 day trail program will allow you to do any thing you need to create Icon's and Cursor's for your theme.

Well, I think Looney2ner is absolutely right! It is very easy to create your own Desktop Theme if you have "Icon Forge" and, the point that you have ca. one month time and Icon Forge Demo has a 30 day trial, it perfectly fits the contest http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/biggrin.gif And the Programm is really easy to use, believe me!

I don't mess with Windon't like that. I tend to really phuck things up when I do, which I did in the Porn Room at work.
