View Full Version : Why GreenDay rocks...

A qoute from Operation Ivy:

"Sometimes I go through periods when I question myself and become jaded, but one thing that really irritates me is a person who is convinced that the "old days" are better than their present even though they weren't there to begin with. Or even worse are people who become burn out (be it 10 months or ten years) and then say that the scene 'isn't as fun anymore'. Sometimes I have to ask myself why a show by a popular band who is just as jaded as the crowd, where the energy is as fake as the band's politics can sell out a horrible $12.50 a ticket 'alternative' rock club, while only 50 people will see a great local band with ten thousand times more spirit and energy. I guess a lot of people are looking for something that is already accepted and unwilling to seek out real underground music. But they'll be the first to jump on the bandwagon when a band is deemed 'cool'."

Don't watch MTV!

I hate heavy metal. Here are all the music CDs that I (legally) own:

Barenaked ladies: Stunt
Blues Traveler (anyone want a CD?)
Cake: Fashion Nugget
Chumbawamba: Tubthumper
Everclear: So Much For the Afterglow
Everclear: Sparkle and Fade
Everclear: Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How To Smile
Alanis Morissette: Jagged Little Pill
No Doubt: Tragic Kingdom
S**** G****: S****
Santana: Supernatural
Sugar Ray: Floored
Sugar Ray: 14:59
They Might be Giants: Flood
"Weird Al" Yankovic: Bad Hair Day

Soundtracks:

Go Simpsonic with The Simpsons,
Jumanji, Disney's Tarzan, the Truman Show

Other:

Adam Sandler: They're All Gonna Laugh At You

...and that's it! I blocked out Spice Girls because it was too embarrasing to include in the list...should I try and sell it, or simply throw it away?

I almost forgot, I have a classical music CD: Gustav Holst's The Planets suite. It's kewl music. Not Doomish, but I'm your out-of-this-world kinda guy so I like it http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smile.gif

As for the Spice Girls CD, I think I'll scratch it up a whole lot and see how it plays then. Just, you know, as an experiment http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smile.gif

Slim Shady? Uhh, I think the topic is about MUSIC, not untallented hacks with no music or singing talent, oh wait, that also reminds me of the Hair Band days too.

(KR heads to the bathroom to hurl some more.)

Some of Eminem's "Songs" are funny. I actually like "My Name is..." (Got it right?).

If you want to hear a REAL rock station (not a wanna-be station that plays a lot of U2 or Barenaked Ladies. If your station plays Techno or Barenaked Ladies, it's not a real rock station), point your browser to:

Take a listen. If you like that wussy stuff, that's fine. If you like rock, you'll love AAF. http://forums.newdoom.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hmm. 300 albums is STILL a lot for Napster. Think about it. Average 12 tracks per album and you got 3,600 mp3s; average 60 minutes per album and you got 18gb.

Stphrz
December 9th, 2000, 04:21 PM
Even if was able to get every album I ever wanted or even could stand to own, I don't think I would have any where near 3000 :) Only 18GB? There are harddisks out there that can hold way more than that. You mean I could go out and buy a 20GB harddisk for about 400 bucks and put my entire music collection on it in mp3 format? Hmmm.

My CD collection will amaze you. Here's all TWO:

(1) Opie & Anthony's Demented World
(2) Evil Ends (Self-titled)

Evil Ends is a metal group that my boss's son is in. Figuring I like MetallicA and equivelent, he thought I'd like the CD, and I do. They don't sing, but they don't (c)RAP the lyics, though. (That is so lame.)

As for DVD's, I have a small collection:

Baseketball
The Flinstones (1'st one)
MetallicA: Cliff 'Em All
MetallicA: Cunning Stunts
South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut
South Park series 1 through 4
WWF Wrestlemainia 16 double DVD set
