ARGH!!!

I got to work five minutes early. I was hanging up my jacket and about to punch in on the time clock when in comes one of the department managers, Dan.

"Hi," says Dan.
"Hello," says I.
"You're not working today," says Dan, cheerfully.
"Huh? Yes I am," says I, pointing at the weekly schedule, "Monday, four to nine."
"Mmm, no," says Dan, tearing off the schedule from last week I was reading from, and revealing this week's TRUE schedule, "You were supposed to be working yesterday."
"Zack] Sun 12-8, Mon ---, Tue 4-9, ..." says this week's schedule.
"Crap," says I.

Luckily, I was not badly needed on Sunday, so they did not bother to call me then, nor did I get in trouble. Hopefully this will never happen again.

Unfortunately, not only was I entirely humiliated in front of my fellow booksellers ("Hahaha! He came to work on the wrong day!!! Bahahaha!!"), but I missed out on at least $50 of income, and am that far less from getting a new PC. And I couldn't work today to make up for it. Damn!

No. I went to work one early Sunday morning (I work at Safeway, a grocery store, night shift). At about 4:00, I arrived, rang the doorbell so they will let me in (now we have a new entrance after the renovations, those with keyless entry, I can go in by myself now). No answer. I rang the doorbell again. No answer. Funny, I thought. I looked at my watch. It was holiday that day. Store is closed. God, what a dummy. Luckily, I'm only a block away from the store so I walked home and went back to bed.

Thats cool At least you didn't get in trouble. I had something like that happen to me once, not even my fault, and I was fired. The manager changed the scedule mid week. but failed to inform me of the change. (I was off the day it was changed) When I came in at my regular time, I was then told I was fired for not showing up for work, And then was told i sould have looked at the scedule on my day off! I just said "Up yours" and left.

I was driving a dump truck for work (construction) and told my boss that it didn't shift right. It didn't feel like it was going into gear. So, the beginning of the day I happen to be the guy who has to drive it. All the crew is there getting everything ready as I hop into the 3 ton and back it out of it's parking spot. I go about four feet and CRUNCH! The transmision completely self-distructs with wild crunching and unholy screaming of tortured metal.

Boss freaks on me, I freak on the boss. Twenty people stand around watching.

Bugger wanted me to pay the $3500 to fix it! So glad I don't work there anymore.
