The RG Doom Editor

Yup, I got this out of the Abertay libary today.

It's from 1995 and has MILLIONS of shitty wads oin the CDROM that came with it! It's an old skooler's DREAM!

It also comes with a doom editor that looks rather nifty. I've never seen it before... it's called 'The RG Doom Editor' software and looks very neato. By Renegade Graphics. Has anyone ever heard of this editor before, and can they tell me how good it is meant to be?

Ummmm, can't you crank the editor open and use the old....Printscreen key. This should put the entire monitor screen on the clipboard.

Maybe make that jobby a bit bigger so you can have the jobby show a few more people on the same time, so you wouldn't have to scroll the jobby all the time to see who's online. You know that feeling you get when you see this huge discussion about something you know about but the others don't, or are really new to it? I HATE THAT FEELING!

I don't know how ironic it is, but considering I'm the only one here who does NOT prefer to Doom-edit...that is the only editor I have used!! I ripped it (in floppy disk form) out of the back of a book I was not willing to buy, from the store at which I work today http://www.newdoom.com/ubb/smile.gif The editor was okay, I suppose, but I can't compare it to anything, since I have little experience with other editors.

The shareware version limits use to 20 sectors per level. And the version I had was extremely buggy -- crashes and pretty messy screens. It was also pretty hard to fix up a couple linedefs without screwing something up a whole lot. But the editor still did the job.

My favorite feature is the fact that it lets you print out levels!!! It scales the level to fit your printer paper and then it comes out nice and color coded. Objects are marked by circles of vastly different sizes and colors. I still have a few print-outs of certain Doom levels. This is a nice way to sort of relive the Doom experience when you are unable to play the game...and you can take it wherever you go!! Just last week I was sitting on the toilet, tracing my way through e1m7. Felt great!

The floppy disk became defective. I was lucky I could save that file with all the descriptions of each trigger function and stuff (for Doom_Dude).
