Ooh! Realistic gore :) You stare intensely at that imp's severed head, and you can make out the tissue and organs in its neck: trachea, spine, throat. Just like in the movie Sleepy Hollow :)

And maybe the game could emphasize on the gore...perhaps an imp eats an important key card, so after killing him, you must dig into his throat or stomach and remove it, muahaha!! ...Would probably be a cinematic though :(

Thats a real nice thought zack, thanks for putting it in my head.
I've just remembered some really cool gory parts in doom. When you killed the cacodemon you saw its eye oozing out and it looked so cool. And the Mancubus plunged its head into a load of blood.
They've got to keep these really cool deaths and make about five death sequences for each enemy. It would take a long while but it'd be cool. And I want to really cut them right in half with the chainsaw. If there will be one that is...

I wonder what would happen to any mechanical enemy when he walks into liquid? ZZZZAP.

They should create a new monster just for water, too, just like they did for Q1 and Q2. Bring the Baracudas back!! They scared the hell outta me.

I really hope to see a ton of scary scripted scenes while playing through the game. You turn a corner, hear bones cracking. The player finds a dead carcass of one of your squad's members being ravaged and eaten by a filthy imp! Also, I agree that monsters should have multiple death sequences, or even locational gore zones. Though I don't buy a game just for the violence, it's a good idea to include this kind of eye candy in the new Doom.

I like FPS not as much for their violence than the gameplay. It's just really fun to work and become skillful at turning real quickly, shooting, and killing in a split second. You can rely on many different things such as sound and stuff. The fact that the marine face on the status bar looked in the direction he was being hurt, though, didn't help me one bit :)

Scripted sequences?
Ah, that brings us onto another subject, cutscenes.
Should they be like half-life's scripted sequences while still in control or should we have proper cut scenes when we're no longer in control.
I prefer half-life's because you're still in control and if your not then you're not scared anymore as the computer is in control.
I would like to have proper cut scenes at the end of each level though that have 'into' graphics. In other words, really good graphics.

The best part of Half-Life was the end of Power-Up (Before On A Rail). You are running down the long tunnel with that blue electric monster thingie on your tail. If you run forward down the tunnel, you can hear it right behind you! If you run backwards it's pretty kewl. But either way it's scary as Hell the first time you play it :)

I'd prefer scripted sequences rather than cutscenes, but if there are any explosions, the cutscenes would be better for it because explosions are always too fake-looking in the engine. Unless Carmack's newest technology can fix that problem up! :)

Is there any idea now if there'll be any scripted sequences in DooM III. I think they really added a lot to Half-Life and I don't really remember any other game doing them at all. I mean it would be cool to be walking around and stuff when a marine runs down past the corridor your in with a strange demon on his ass. Then you hear gunfire and growling, ripping noises. By the time you get to the marine, h's very dead and the demon is missing? Ahhhhhh where is it? Hey a new weapon on this dead guy! WTF was that noise in the room with all the machnery and crates?

Ummm shit like that. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

I think there will be Scripted sequences, At the very least, the engine has the capability to do them.

I believe they mentioned/demonstrated that. When all your lighting is dynamic with nice shadows it's a good idea to have the scripted sequences.

However, this is not the case with TED's fill routine. This slow, stupid algorithm will casually fill one plane of data in a painfully creeping manner. Press ESC when it gets confused." - John Romero on TED (Tile EDitor)

I've actually not read all the Carmack comments and the preview stuffs so I have no clue. Scripted sequences will add so much atmosphere to the game methinks. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm12.gif
