Hi everyone this is my first post. I am running windows 98 a p4 1.8 gig w/ 512 ram of memory and a radeon 7200 64 meg video card. I downloaded the alpha demo of doom 3 and the lag is unplayable. Hearing everyone talk about the sys req., i figured mine was ok, but it lags really bad. Not sure if its the video card or what PLEASE HELP!!!

Whoa. You should not have that leaked alpha in your hard drive.

I'd suggest you delete it NOW, and wait until the game is released.

Sorry man, you won't find any help with that here. Activision told the Newdoom guys not to talk about it in the forums cause after all it is illegal. So we don't. As for the lag, it was built for the box they used at E3 so you'd probably be screwed anyway.

If you want a game with DooM III-ish graphics check out Tenebrae at http://tenebrae.sourceforge.net It will run pretty well on your box and it has awesome graphics (Quake port).

EDIT: Thanks for not blowing up on the poor guy Jon. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif

Maybe at 320x240.

I just ran it decently on my box at 640x480 and his is better than mine. The latest version of Tenebrae is faster than the old versions. The new testmap out for it looks very very cool (rather like DooM III).

Sorry guys I didn't know you weren't allowed to talk about the alpha. I just wanted to know for when I buy the real game if i would have to upgrade since the demo lags.

No problem, dude.

Now we do NOT want anyone to post any links to the alpha or the screenshots of the alpha, or that will result in an automatic instantban by the mods.

Shaviro, one of the Super moderators at Doomworld forums has said that linking to scans from PCGamer or any other magazine is illegal as well, so the same rules apply to those.

It's not a DEMO, it's a LEAKED APLHA, which shouldn't have been released in the first place.

The full game when released will make the alpha look like a bicycle compared to the space shuttle. You just can't judge the game by the alpha. http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/rolleyes.gif
