Who thinks that the New Doom will include the same enemies as the old doom does?

Do you think they all will be there? Or some of them you don't want to see in the new doom?
I'll love to see them all in it, with some new additions. I bet they all will look spectacular in 3D. I think I'll enjoy frying some more imps. After saving Laura, I'm more motivitated to frying some more imps!

Well i do hope to not see any Lost Souls, because they suck. I hate how they get stuck on your head and scream while croaking you.
All the other monsters would be cool to see in the game, but maybe the Pain Elemental should go too or be revamped to not spit out souls but something else.........or they could change the souls into a more ghostly, mist like, soul sucking, air elemental type of beast. A soul that looks like those ones that came out of the arc in the Indiana Jones movie............can't remember which one.
Hopefully we will see Viles and Revenants and anouther type of Cyberdemon.

Yes another kind of cyberdemon can be cool
but adding more color different monster can be cool too......(like knight/Baron of Hell)
An undead marine can be cool, too(like the skin.....created by Boingo i think?)
For myself....i think the lost soul have not too be in the new DooM.....they resist a lot....and are spawn by pain elemental......i hate that!!! how many time i waste all my shotgun ammo for killing them??????

If you've played Quake 3, you would Know that DOOM happened a long time ago and I think the new doom will be set in a far off future from the original doom, so it will probably have lots of new ideas .........I think

Fyewit, just because one game takes place in the future from another plot and cheaply links the two stories together doesn't mean that the new Doom will take place around the time of Q3 or later. Remember, Q3 was just a multiplayer game and did not need a plot or anything. It was just something cheap that the id guys felt like throwing in, and met nothing to the Doom plot.

I'd like to see a monster who will bring back other dead monsters, like an Arch Vile, only he doesn't attack, just revives.
Oh, and I'd like them to keep the Wolfies, even if they don't have any real place in the actual Doom setting.

I think that each monster should be able to carry lots of different weapons or pick up his late buddy`s.
That would be cool, if shoot all their current ammo and would have to reload or pick up another weapon.

yeah, vehicles would be cool. A highly interactive world would be to drive to your diff locations, replacing intermission screens. not sayin that everytime you finish a level, theres a cheesy scene where you drive to next door, lol. Just where it may be required, or to cover some distance. Id like to see a cool level of a city, where you must drive thru all the demons swarming around. you have huge chainguns mounted to your vehicle, awww this sounds cool. if I dont see it, im confident i can patch the game, similar to my destruction derby mod i made for legacy.

Uh, I think Doom 2 had a lot of new enemies, Doom_Master.
How about a new, intelligent enemy with some real strategy? Like, he could pick up a dead enemy around him and use it to shield him from bullets. It'd make less powerful weapons completely useless against him. That'd be cool. And some REAL A.I., where the enemy will actually pick up on what you're trying to do and use the same strategies! Max Payne style difficulty, autoadjusting stuff...ahhh...*drool*

without the same monsters it just isn't doom and without new ones it just isn't a doom sequel, so i'd like to see both
the lost souls realy aren't so bad just don't take on the pain elemental with a rocket launcher

what could be a better defense than a rocket in your face?
maybe a BFG blast but then it wouldn't make sense to shoot that from a rocket launcher
the problem here is that kicking at the player when he gets close might make him super easy
the player could walk up to him, dodge his kick, repeat, all the while blastin him

Yea, but if it is shooting rockets two feet apart from the player, it should cause some damage to it too, just for some realistic damage. Maybe his right arm could be use to claw or hit the player kinda like Nemesis from RE3 did, I dont know, just an idea. We have to just wait and see.

not so, cyberdemons and spiderdemons are actually imune to the explosion damage the rockets cause
at least that's what some editing sources told me but with iddqd i once chainsawed a cyber to death
not once during that longperiod did that explosion damage throw him into pain
that isn't absolute proof, but after having heard what i explained above i beleived it

Interesting.. Hadnt heard of that before but I took awhile off Doom for Half-life/Blood http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smilies/cwm34.gif . I agree with you on that. It would be kinda weak anyway to put in damage for the Cyberdemon or Spiderdemon of their own weapon unless one other was firing at the other like the Spiderdemons was capable of. It was kinda funny when you get to the Redemption Denied level and let one fire at the other.

Yup, it was the last main level of Playstation Doom too. That FTP server... damn its not online anymore. The one server that contained all that console Doom's music. Too bad its offline. I used to have a 59-level Pwad, stayed on my old comp.

anyways, I agree with thedoomguy. Doom 3 would just not be doom without old enemies, and it also wouldn't be much of a sequel without new ones. So...keep orginal enemies and make NEW ONES! i just hope they make it a huge one that uses tactics more creative than just spawning monsters
like maybe he stomps his foot and quakes the ground, but instead of losing your footing you take damage if your not in the air

Mmm enemies have to be the most exciting part of a game.
Seeing as graphics have reached a level where the environment can look scary why not have creatures to mach?
I think there should be water enemies - surely the engine will do amazing things with water and in the dark, gloomy, underground sewer of hell I would expect something big, slimy and hungry which wasnt me. Also how about smaller creatures - not like the old mutated fish but big leeches which stick to you?
You also always need a selection of easy, simple creatures which attack in massive groups and are fun to gun down like the Imps as well as harder creatures which are more specialised in weaponary and AI.
I also reckon on decent sound - to hear something vicious breathing round the next corner or stomping around a few coridoors ahead would be lovely. Also add in the terror side of things. You go thru a squeeky doorand a few corridoors down, you hear the squeeky door again...something is coming up behind you...
As for the few huge creatures which are hell to fight - they need to be more agile. In halflife the gargantuas were impressive but they suffered problems with AI and routefinding which turned them from being scary into being laughable.
Flying creatures just suck though - I would be happy if there werent any. I cant think of any good flying creatures in any FPS period. They just hover, they dont look real and always suck.
New doom should be ultra realistic in my opinion - maybe with midi soundtrack though http://forums.newdoom.com/UBB/smile.gif Dont let it become another serious sam though...keep it realistic.
I hope it will have super monster AI in too and not just rely on scripted sequences.
I couldnt believe that scientists and barneys in halflife couldnt drown or suffer from falling damage - all it would have taken was an extra 10 lines of code here and there.
Hey maybe they could put some original Quake monsters in it too? like the flesh throwing zombies - they were class the way you could shoot them with every bullet you had but they just got back up a few seconds later and you had to kill them with explosives. and how they ripped their own flesh off to throw at you. That was a monster which I rank as one of the best ever. Stuck in a pit with a hoard of them and only a shotgun ho ho ho.

They should add the SS soldiers to it too! That would rock! And when they die they can say "I'm Leavin'" in very bad audio so it sounds like, "Mime Cleavin'"!

They should have statues which come to life too. ANd I liked the lava creatures in serious sam - they were funny.
What would be really cool is if they had some monsters on your side too. Like other marines...like the halflife barneys but they can walk up stairs and dont act dumb. That would be cool. Have lots of sequences of marines being eaten and stuff.

Lol Kaiser included that option in DSV3. In order to have friendly enemies, you would load warallies.wad . Usually your "friends" would be behind glassed walls and you would shoot the glass walls to release your friends. Heh Heh >:-) Anyhow I agree with joo.

It'd be cool if the monsters could fuse with each other. And the AI could be kicked up. Maybe the monsters can jump finally! Or they could do something smart like planning ambushes or something like that.

i think it'd be sweet if the monsters would walk around the halls - and if they were in a group, they would be making noises and gesturing and such like they were conversing. im pretty sure even the monsters of hell get lonely and bored sometimes. and it'd be sweet if you could also surprise them and they actually act surprised

I think it's slowly coming around to that. Monsters do have patrol routes and do make noises. The acting surprised bit might be hard to pull off but I'm sure games will eventually have these kinds of kewlness, eventually.....

I'd really like to see all the old enemies back, including some new ones! I'd say my favorite demon right now is the Nightmare Imp, because being the design Id gave imps for DooM64, the whole transparent, purple scheme fit it real well. Also, I have read the DooM novels, and I believe in the "Infernal Skys," there was actually a monster in the water, that was supposed to be like a cloud, that'd be interesting to see!
