I want all of you in the forum to tell me what is your favorite Doom port and why.

Right now mine is Legacy. I find it the most playable and I've been playing for years now.

Skull Tag and Legacy are at the same level. I never get tired of using that railcannon on skull tag and I like playing levels with my friends on legacy.

Legacy is #1 with me and I really like running maps in opengl mode.

Edge if I am making a level or something.
Otherwise I use legacy to play other maps since everyone else uses it...

JDoom is fun too. It sucks for wads though.

I tried to play JDoom on my computer but since mine only has 200MHz, it went really slow.

Skull Tag is fun in deathmatch and I think thats its only purpose.

Doom Dude, it doesnt have so many mapping effects like in legacy, zdoom and edge.
Thats what I at least think...

Jdoom has a edge (create your own sector type) like editing feature that has yet to be unleashed. Other than that its just Boom. Skulltag is a remake of Q3:Arena for DooM if you ask me.

It took ages for deHacked support to appear in JDoom. JDoom is also slower so lots of really big wads would just suck. The graphics kick Legacy's ass in some areas though (lighting comes to mind).

Every texture, sprite (if any), flat, and model will be of that skull. Hell, the dynamic lights will give off that skull.

bah, I hate opengl in doom, doesn't look original. I use software all the time.

Anyways, I don't have a top pick favorate port yet....but I do have a favorate pick between PRboom and Legacy.

Don't like GL? Square pixels are uh, square. Its just the extra brightness that ruins it (and the eye candy, but that can be turned off).

For the brightness, uh, get a darker moniter (and maybe rapidly pressing F11 will cause to brightness to go so far in a loop it will go into the negatives). All the eye candy can be fiddled with under the 3D card options under video options. Most of it is under Lighting (Try raising the corona size).
