there is NO EDITING forum here! so that's why i'm postin my crap here...
before when i was makin a map i had a square room with a fountain doodad in the middle.
i saw the opportunity to add more eye candy so i added a bunch of bars across the ceiling, a few of which went OVER the fountain (i thought this would work ok)...but when i went into the game....
the water in the fountain was for some reason on the other side of the room, there was an HOM inside the fountain, the beams had severe texture bleeding... many problems...
i heard there was a way to make 3d stuff in doom (bridges and such)...but i've tried (with the cyan sprites) and it just plain didn't work. is this only a feature in Zdoom? i've seen it in wads for doom 2 like Reqiuem, but i dont know how they did it.
one of the things i saw that COULDN'T have been a sprite was there was an upsidedown U shaped structure that you walk through, yet there was a torch on each corner of it. this can't just be an above texture adjustment because there would have to be TWO above textures (the wood and the sky). i opened the map file but it didn't give any clues!
how was this done???
