hi. i used to map alot for DOOM but that was a long time ago and i forgot EVERYTHING!
when i try to join linedefs i get a SECTOR # IS NOT CLOSED error.
for instance, i tried to make a room with one column in each corner, connect each column to the other by a beam. then i joined the linedef on the end of each beam to the column. then i get the errors.
how am i supposed to do this?

You could try asking the guys on IRC, EfNet #doomroom. They probably know what your talking about :)

okies this is what i meant (im not sure if it'll show up right):
first i have two square columns which are next to eachother (main sector not drawn):
......................
.____...........____.
|.....|.........|.....|
|____|.........|____|
......................
just a note i had to use periods because if i tried spaces it wouldn't show up right on the forums...
each column has flipped linedefs (as needed) and has the METAL4 texture for the main. they have the two-sided and impassible flags set as well.
having two columns alone is pretty boring. so what i want to do is add a horizontal beam that connects the two. it's linedefs are also flipped. i set the ceiling to 20 less than the surrounding sector and applied the above texture of METAL4.
i then select the linedef on one of the columns, then select the adjacent linedef on the beam and join them. i then repeat the process with the other beam. so what i have now is this:
..........................
.____._____________.____.
|.....|.................|.....|
|____|_____________|____|
...........................
now i get the erros. it says that the main sector (the one surrounding the columns) is incomplete when i did nothing to that sector. it also says that each column is incomplete.
ok, i think i may know why it gives me the error that the main sector (sector 0) is not closed. so i start over. this time i make the beam first, and create each column sector WITHIN the beam sector (so it doesn't think i want it to be a part of sector 0), then move it out and join the linedefs. i still get incomplete errors.
what am i doing wrong here???

Maybe we oughta add a Classic Doom section to our forums, for just such questions :-)
