Here are some FAQs concerning the C++ prealpha:
Q: The game crashed, formatted my hard drive and caused my monitor to explode, showering me with white-hot fragments of glass. How come?
A: That's what a prealpha means. However, I've never observed the last two effects myself:)
Q: How can I know why the game just crashed?
A: The game keeps two log files, stdout.txt and stderr.txt. See what they contain.
Q: Something invisible blocks my way in Hexen, and occasionally squashes me to death! What is it?
A: They are polyobjects, i.e. moving walls. They are just not rendered yet.
Q: Feature XXXX does not work. Why?
A: Some features are disabled for now (but will return later). These include:
- Netcode. Only single player games work.
- Bots
- Some DeHackEd stuff
- Heretic support
Q: What kind of bugs should I report, and how?
A: If you know how to use a debugger, feel free to send us stack traces via e-mail.
Otherwise, follow these guidelines:
- Report the bugs in the previous thread. Report only new bugs.
- Include the following information in your bug report: Operating system, graphics mode (sw/OpenGL), IWAD used
- Describe the bug and how it can be reproduced
