Sorry had to boast...I finally heard Flickerstick on the radio! Okay so it wasn't a local radio station, but it was a radio station in Ft. Worth, TX. (Im listening to the station here on the internet) They are in a "cock fight" and are reigning champs. Get this...their competition is solo Dave Matthews! EWWWW! There is no competition.
EDIT: and i even called long distance to vote. (okay so it was free cause we have free long distance on our cell phones but still...heh)
Edit again: And they put me on the air....hehehehe!!!
Okay, I know, sorry, Im a freak. *crazy*

See, that's the funky thing about Flickerstick....I don't know. If you are looking for a generic genre to put them in, some kind of alternative rock, I would say.
If you want to take a listen, you can grab an mp3 or two from my yahoo briefcase here...

Im just obsessed. The mp3s dont show what the guys are really like. I've never known a band to sound BETTER on stage, and they do. They are great live performers, and all around nice guys to boot.

We are all obsessed with something, I bet Flickerstick would be happy to know how much you like them. Bands can sound better live, I have seen it done. Korn, metallica, less than jake, the prodigy and placebo. But only on occasion.

Azrael, believe me, when I met the guys, I seriously almost broke down. I did tell Brandin (lead singer) how they touch me when they play. (especially live) Dominic (the drummer) heard me telling Brandin that, came over and said I made his night, and that's exactly why they do what they do. THAT made my night! Gotta love em. They are definitely a live band...screw the cd listening! hehe.
Ive seen a LOT of bands live...and these guys do it right and sound better every time.

Well a lot of those concerts happened between 1996-1997. LOTS OF THEM. I swear I was going to a concert once a week back then. I may get to goto one, once or twice a year now, if I'm lucky. Bands just don't seem to come around as much as they used to.

*whistles* That's a good sized kist Azrael_Rage. And when did these all happen?
Goldeyes, If you were an NIN fan a few years ago, you copuld have seen them live in Columbus. That was one of their tour stops. I just wish they would come a bit further than London over here. :( I don't want to go near the place. I hear a lot of weird stuff goes on down there.

London isn't as bad as it sounds. Just avoid soho and brixton if you can. When did I see these gigs? Been going for five years now, so all over the place really. Whenever I can get the money and go the distance. That isn't all of them though, I just can't remember all of them.

Alright! You have a lot of gigs behind you, what festivals do you go to? What are they like in Germany? Does ozzfest make it over your way?

Well, what are festivals like here? I don't think they differ from those in other countries. Uncountable amount of young people, a lot of them drunk or under different influences, a lot of bands, mostly more than 2 stages. Bigger festivals last 3 days, other ones 1 day. I mainly visit alternative festivals like the Bizarre Festival (http://www.bizarre.de), the Greifensteine Openair (http://www.greifensteine-openair.de) (very bautiful location, a natural stage!) and the Taubertal Openair (http://www.taubertal-openair.de) (also very nice, the main stage is placed directly under a castle, beautiful!).
What are they like in The States or England?
I don't know about Ozzfest. But I must admit that the bands of the Ozzfest 2003 wouldn't have been a reason for me to visit it.

In england we have loads of festivals. The main alternative festivals are the carling weekender and glastonbury, oh yeah, and there is download and the kerrang weekender. They are good fun, although I was dissapointed wuth the line up of last years carling.

Yup. But to be honest: Nothing special. But I'm not really a Manson-fan at all, so my opinion doesn't count.

So why did you see him if you aren't a fan?
Back then I wanted to see him. That was around, let me think... yeah, 1997. Back then he still wasn't so popular, and he was better (imo),
he didn't try to be so "demonic" and "antichrist" like today. He just made a cool show and good music. OK, the music he makes now isn't really bad, but if I see him in an interview, this guy just makes me laugh. Clown!
Btw.: Do you have to be a fan just to go to a concert? I sometimes visit gigs just because I'm curious or I want to see and hear something different, even if I don't even know the band.

No, you don't have to be a fan I suppose, I just got the impession that you really didn't like him. I agree with you on his career. He was much better around the time he released Portrait of an american family, he got boring to me after he released mechanical animals.
